A non-favorite solution could be to use frames. There are many reasons not to. It's not the best choice but it is moderately easy to set up and would do what you want. Personally I'd bite the bullet and get into the PHP includes though - they're not that hard and work a lot better.

Depending on the traffic you want to run on it, you could get mySQL and PHP for the PC and use something like the Abyss Web Server to "serve up" the pages. Abyss is free for personal use (check the agreement for a business use - I've not checked it.) The Abyss server can be found on www.aprelium.com but there are others that would work also The other choice is, of course, to get a full blown server and go that way..

Another thing I wonder is whether it makes a difference to use relative to this page versus relative to home. For instance ><a href="../../abc.htm" versus ><a href="/abc.htm Either way I'd think a complete URL would be best so it's just a matter of curiousity.

I'm not convinced the problem is in the code. The PHP code that creates the calendar runs on the server so there is no OS problems there. I'd look at your browsers to see if there are any settings different between the one on W2K and WME. Of course I'm assuming you're using the same browser on both. Perhaps there is one of the "Allow XX" or "Disable YY" settings that's causing the problem.

Or you could boost your reseller package and give them a big hunk of space yourself. Either way, glad you're here and hope you enjoy your new home.

Mozilla Thunderbird. It's free. It's pretty feature-packed in the email areas complete with filters. It's not obese with non-email functionality. It works well with Firebird which I use almost exclusively. It's under development so improvements are inevitable. It's not a Microsoft virus-trap. Most things from MS have gaping security holes and that, quite honestly, bothers me a lot. It does everything I need. It has Bayesian spam filtering which so far seems to be working very well. (It needs a little training to learn what you consider spam.)

Hey gang, I have seen, several times and on several different hosts, really bizarre entries in the referer parts of logs. For instance - my logs say that someone came to my Key West Daycare site from www.precisionintelligence.com which is an affiliate program that has absolutely nothing to do with Key West, daycare or especially our particular site. Whassup wit dat? Any ideas?

Turtle, I am so sorry for not replying sooner. I was just reminded about this post and it had fallen through the cracks, so to speak, and I missed your reply until just now. Good idea about the freebie. If I can't get the Captain to do it maybe I'll get the trinket myself and put the website address or my own info and tell them to send pictures so we can feature them on the boat's website - we have a section for "recent catches". That way they know they will be plastered on the internet with the pic of their big catch to show all their buddies, we get more traffic on the site from them and said buddies, and I get my name out there too. Excellent! I love the website idea! Even a dishonest boat captain would be shy to lie to me about the sale if the new owner will have an ongoing business relationship with me, however short-term or long-term. It's a good selling point for us both too. The captain could use it to add perceived value to the sale and I can possibly get one or more customers from the word-of-mouth it generates. I'm sure glad I came back upon this post - Turtle, you're the best!

Here's one that's been bothering me for awhile I hope someone can give me some suggestions for. I have a client (and friend) that is a fishing charter boat captain. He is unwilling to give discount coupons because his prices are rock bottom, and that's fair enough. My problem is in tracking how many customers he actually gets from the web. He nor I know unless they volunteer it... although he does ask. Here's the questions: 1. If we offer the customer no incentive to tell us he found it on the web then why should he? 2. Other than a discount coupon, what else could we do to encourage the exchange of this info? 3. What about my clients who are not as honest as my friend? For instance, I may have a shot at 5% commission on the selling price for another person's boat which would sell at around $100K... how can I be sure whether or not the purchaser found it by my website or by other means? It all comes down to either incentive or honesty (which seems in short supply when dealing with money nowadays) the way I see it so help me out with any ideas you may have on this... I'd be totally grateful and would have to send you a hug or something! :hug: Thanks!

I'm no SEO expert, but for what it's worth: You have a relatively small amount of text on your home page. Very few of your keywords are even in the text of the page. It may help to either reduce the keywords and focus on each one (or a very few) on separate pages of your site or beef up the text on the main page to say more about each keyword. Remember, you don't care if they come to your main page - as long as they get into your site and you have proper navigation to the rest. For instance, you could do a page that focuses on gay pride and links to pages for or contains content about, the aids quilt and the high-heel races (which I assume are gay pride related)... then someone looking for photos in that genre would find you and then spread (hopefully) to the other pages. As Scott said, you don't want to dillute your hits that would come to the gay pride section by adding in keywords and content about Paris and cats... and vice versa. Hope it helps!

The "big win" I see of being at TCH is the forums and the many possibly helpful replies you can get to a problem like... "Did they remember to change the username within FP for the web update/FTP settings?" What else could it be, all you FP pros out there?

I have been seeing some 404 errors from CPanel. One is like this: /hospital_fkcc.htm 2 http://www.help.cesoft.com/shop The hospital... page is definitely mine. It says there are 2 errors going to that page from cesoft.com. My site is a trailer park in Key West, Florida and the cesoft page is a buy-direct-from-us page for products I've never heard of for the Macintosh computer! Now why would they be referring to me? More to the point, why does the logs say that someone was on the cesoft page and clicked a link to my hospital page and it failed? I don't get it.

Just remember that while search engine optimizations on a page will help your position in Google and others for a given key word, it does not change page rank. Page Rank, as misleading as the term is, is merely a complicated version of "How popular are you?" Here's one explanation: Don't be disappointed if your PR doesn't change when you complete your optimizations. It will be time then to go get more links to your page from other sites - and the closer to your topic they are the more the vote counts.
