Lianna, You are right on both accounts (the name of the directory and how to access it from the phpbb admin menu). HOWEVER, to solve your confusion -- where Flip is getting the spelling 'smilies' is from the other link that also on the phpbb General Admin area, appropriately labeled 'smilies' kw

When I run the env.pl script on my web site: http://www.kwsupport.com/cgi-bin/env.pl it reports the following: which seems to imply that the mod_gzip is installed. -kw
-
you can also use a small Javascript to add to a page on your web site for signing in. It will still take you to the Horde screen, but it will be prefilled, and you bypass the Horde/Neomail option screen. take a look at the script at: http://tch.kwsupport.com/id35.htm Warning, the link for the live example may not work - I am in the process of redisigning these support pages for TCH. kw

Lianna ROCKS ! But, then again, we all know that. -kw

Lianna ... reminder #2 ... -kw

Thanks for the info. There is always more than one solution to the problem - and spam and pop up windows are two BIG problems! -kw
-
Curtis -- fyi, NeoMail is essentially no longer a maintained product - at least per their web site. -kw
-
In most cases, there should be no problem. Just make sure that you CHMOD your CGI script for execution (usually 755). I moved one of my small utilities to my web home directory (that is, under public_html) -- give it a try: http://www.kwsupport.com/env.pl -kw

Curtis, have you tried viewing your mail thru Mail2Web (www.mail2web.com) --- it's free, it's easy ... kw

changed main acct pw & can't sign in!
KevinW replied to twowheels's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
if your problem is with POP3 make sure your email account id is correct. For your "main" account name, your email account id is just your user id name. Don't include the '@******' to it. But, for any other email accounts you add to your web site, the email account name is the user name followed by @****** Thus, if you add 'john' to your web site, his email account name is john@****** Finally, make sure when you set p your email client that you enable the option "my outgoing server (SMT) requires authentication" -- at least this is what it is for Outlook or Outlook Express. Good luck! kw -
TCH automatically provides you with both NeoMail and Horde for accessing email via a web browser thru the cPanel interface. However, these web mail solutions require access to TCP port 2095. Many people find that at work they cannot access NeoMail or Horde because of a company firewall blocking such access. Thus, some people have installed SquirrelMail. Altho the instructions for SquirrelMail indicates you need SSH access to install it, that is not really true. The SSH access was only to run a setup script to customize SquirrelMail. However the configuration file it updates can be easily edited manually (even II did it!) and then copied over. I had SquirrelMail up and running immediately after that. An alternate solution for retrieving your wemail via a web browser is Mail2Web, see: http://www.mail2web.com -kw

FYI, when I run the program env.pl on my TCH web site, it indicates that "the library mod_perl is not installed". If you wish to run it yourself, you can download the zip file and then FTP the env.pl file to your web site. Download it at: http://tch.kwsupport.com/tools.htm -kw

Curtis, Hey, that's interesting - I never considered the Ascii/Binary issue when copying files up to a web site thru a browser window. Guess that's why standalone FTP programs are still necessary and required! I'll have to use Google to see if there's a way to control Ascii/Binary uploads via IE. Now, aren't you glad I encouraged you to give it the old college try???? -kw
-
Hey, JD -- see what happens? You ask a question, point out an issue, and TCH is on it! Way to go, everyone. -kw

Have you been to YourHostSucks.com

Wow, you don't hear that from many web owners. Thanks, Bill! Interesting ... being concerned about the 1% who are unhappy in comparison to the 99% who are happy. Sounds like the story of going after the one lost sheep, with the other 99 in the fold! Bottom line ... everyone counts, everyone matters ... we can each make a difference in this world! Ok, end of sermon ... now where did I put my coffee cup??? :-) -kw -
Chuck, If you use any standard FTP utility (CuteFTP or the like) and login to your account, you would already be at your site's home directory (/home/floridas/ in your case. That's why all you need to enter then is public_html, as Lianna pointed out to you. The entire path name of /home/floridas/public_html is called the document root, and has usefulness when dealing with Perl and PHP scripts. -kw
-
I was also able to view it using Mail2Web. Cool, 3 ways to get to my mail. -kw
-
jd- I just installed Squirrel Mail on my of my TCH sites, and sent an email to one of my user accounts on my site. I was able to successfully view the email in both SquirrelMail and Horde. -kw

This info comes from a post in another forum as an alternative solution to using WebMail from a company business, where the firewall may prevent you from getting access to the necessary port for WebMail. Check out Mail2Web at http://www.mail2web.com It also offers options for multiple email accounts, PDA support, etc. -kw

Lianna .... just a reminder ..... :-) kw

Hey, Curtis ... you're not going to give up *that* easily -- are you???? -kw
