Yes, any thing on your space counts.

If you did a cpanel > backup > full backup the backup file is on your space above the public_html folder If you have a copy of your site on your computer check out the space taken up by your images.

Phpbb is no longer in the scripts installer fantastico because of frequent security holes. In fantastico you will see SMF on their site there are converters for other forums. Also you will see many themes there. You can try it and judge for yourself. If you stay with Phpbb, you are responsible for keeping it updated and secure.

I use both. There are a few commercial programs I like and will pay for until they get too expensive. I also use a number of free and shareware programs that are great too. I have a few share programs that I paid for many years ago and I can still upgrade to the latest version at no cost unlike some commercial programs.

Welcome to the forums Rob The Phpbb software keeps getting security holes in it and is not recommended The SMF forum is an easy install in the what is called fantastico script installer in your web site control panel (cpanel). SMF is easy to upgrade with a few mouse clicks in the Admin panel of the forum, unlike other forums that require you to download the new script and then upload to your space. The SMF site has links to themes. Don't worry about being a beginner, we all started there. At TCH you have the family ( fellow customers ) to help out. You will need is an FTP program to upload files to your web space. Thomas created a tutorial on FTP that may help. Because the forum scripts use a scripting language called PHP and a database you would need to install a web server on your computer with php to play with it locally. As you become more knowledgeable you may want to look in to this. Although a forum may be too much to try on a home computer, the configuration will be a lot different. Not something I will try. But when you start to learn PHP scripting, you may want to go that route. If you have more questions, please ask, we love to help.
