That is strange, I am very acitive on this board, and get e-mails while I am here, some just minutes after I post in a thread. Its still a mystery. Adam you might look into Simple Machine Forum http://www.simplemachines.org/ by the creators of Yabba board, but in php, and they have a very active forum.

An ftp program is easier than trying to use a browser, browsers do not seem to work in ftp everytime. There are many free ftp programs out there.

I tried several backups of different forums and as long as the back up was for the same version, it worked. Are you sure the backup is from the same version? 1.2 -

If this does not work, there are some great link managers from hotscripts I just converted my link page over to one called Linkster and I love it. You may want to look at it if only to see how they do it.

You are right, it really won't matter where the server is your users will have the fastest connection to yor site no matter where they are. The servers are all very fast (quad processors and gobs of ram and very fast connection to the net). if you need any help, please ask

Importing Data From Existing Invision Board
TCH-Don replied to TOWebstress's topic in Looking for......
In MySql > scroll to the bottom to find phpMyAdmin (or where ever it is on your old host) select database > export > click on select all check off save as file for compression select none if small or gzipped if big click on GO save to a folder on your computer. install your forum here via cpanel > addon scripts > invision board then goto phpMyAdmin here select the database for the forum, may be the only one. Then click on SQL > goto down to Location of the textfile: browse to the file on your computer leave autodetect on, and click on go if the export is from the same version you will set. The board may not function properly until propagation fo the domain to TCH you can edit the config_global.php file make a copy of the original to uload later find all lines with http://yourdomain/otherstuff replace with your ip/~username/ from your welcome e-mail that should get you started, post back if you have any trouble. oh yes Welcome to the Family and your new home! Good to know, I believe most registars have a way for you to lock your domain, if not ask them.

TCH-Don replied to Montty's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I tend to take these online reporting tools with a grain of salt I plugged in a few site to dns reports, and saw errors too microsoft.com yahoo.com and amazon.com was the worst .
