Arin (American Registry for Internet Numbers) has awarded TCH its VERY own netblock of IP addresses! As some of you know we have always gotten our IP assignements from the DataCenter providers or the upstream providers, and as some of also know the problems that come along with the IPs. Sometimes the IP block used by datacenters is contaminated by spamers that infect an entire block of IPs. Their spamming results in the IP's of innocent persons servers and IP's ending up on spam black lists. This was such the case with our recent set of IP's given to us from the upstream providers. TCH moving into its own datacenter space allowed us to approach ARIN and request our very own IP space. It was granted! We will not mass renumerate all our servers at this time. We will begin using our own IP block on all new migrations in to our new Data Center. We will also renumerate the 25 servers that we have already moved into the new DataCenter as those are the servers that are having some issues with contaminated IP's. This is just one more step for TCH. We are elvolving everyday. Controlling our own IP block is just totally awesome, it really does give us that much more flexibilty. Just for you geeks in the crowd.... http://ws.arin.net/whois/?queryinput=208.76.87.255

Andy is chained to his desk, we have not let him see the sunlight in many years. Way to go TCH TEAM

I think maybe you have outgrown totalchoice and its time to move on. Good luck with your new provider if you choose to move.

It can be a very hard task of ballancing server loads, fast loading sites, quick email response times, fast upload speeds, fast download speeds, good ping times and have unlimited resources set on a per user basis. We can keep our server loads very low and offer a great hosting package for $4.00 a month. Less than a Big Mac value meal at McDonalds we provide some very powerful resources to our customers. I personally know clients that have DOUBLE the amount of traffic than your seeing and have no issues with the resource limits in place. Like I said, it is a act of walking a tight rope in order to deliver fast responding servers. Bill

I have asked tchdick to make standard all the Fantastico installs across our server farm. He will update this thread once its been done.

We have been running our core servers on the new providers fiber for two days now. Anyone noticing any improvments? Looking forward to hearing any feedback.

Thanks! It has been a pain thats for sure. However, the core TCH servers are now up on the new bandwidth providers and we are hoping to see great improvements with load times and speed. Time will tell. Do let us know what results you are seeing when browsing the forums, submitting a ticket or ordering your new hosting package Bill

In mid January TotalChoice Hosting started on its move to a data center in Michigan. We signed a deal with a wholesale bandwidth provider and our transit was coming in via two diverse paths from AT&T and level 3. Our preference was AT&T. Shortly after that we received our IP allocations from the upstream provider and we were ready to go! Starting in February we started moving some servers into our racks in the new space and things were going great. We started several server migrations and clients were praising us on the speed of the new servers and how fast things were going. Everything was moving along. Several days into the first round of migrations we were notified by clients about mail bouncing from several different ISP's. AOL and Earthlink were the two biggest ones. We immediately stopped migrations and started to look into this issue. We knew right away that the IP's provided to us were contaminated from a prior user and we were in for a rough ride. What seems like 4,000 emails later to AOL and Earthlink we thought the blocks were cleared off our new IP's? We checked over and over again and the clients noted the same things looked good. We started to go back into migration mode, and once again two days after migrating more servers we were hit with more blacklisting complaints. We stopped all migrations again at that point. A couple weeks roll on, we are still fighting with the upstream over the IP issue and then the worse happens. We start to notice issues over our DS3 lines. We started noting latency and packet loss and it has really not gotten any better. We have had several meetings with the wholesale bandwidth provider and looked at several routes to resolve the issues. We did not appear to be getting to a point of resolution in the time we needed. I am not one to allow my business to be slowed down by the lack luster performance of others so we started to take action. Due to the lack of performance with the current suppliers, we will be canceling the existing contract with our preferred upstream, and moving to a point where we will have excellent connections. We have already turned up a OC-3 to XO Communications, a gigE to Cogent Communications and a gigE to Level 3 will be up in the next 72 hours. So as you can see we will have plenty of backbone strength. We are looking to change during March. This will involve some downtime as we get everything changed over. Due to all the ongoing blacklisting issues, we will also be changing IP's so that should clear many of the issues associated with emailing to certain domains.

What type of photos? Is your forum open to the public? Do you have a TOS? Have you given written notice to the offenders ISP? -
We are testing the waters and need 15 beta testers. We are looking at offering true hardware based SPAM FIREWALL FILTERING. You will need to: Remove any and all spam filtering products from the test email account. You will need to cease using any server side email filtering such as spam assasisin. During the beta testing you will need to allow us to change the MX record for your hosted email domain. Your domain will need to be hosted on a TCH server. You will be required to give feedback during the next 60 days. You can not go ape crazy if certain legit email is discarded during the testing, and likewise you can not go ape if you get spam into your box. This will be a 30-90 day trial and you will be asked to give us your feedback on the system. Please just reply to this thread with your domain name and you will be added to the beta. Thanks!

You should move to dnsmadeeasy.com, they are excellent provider. It is odd, but dnscentral.com appears to be hosted on a DSL line from speakeasy.

Ok i take back everything I just posted. I now actually think thats a proxy server of some type. Either way, not much TCH has in the way of controlling this sort of thing. Bill

OH and your not the only one being targeted. (not sure if targeted is even the right word) http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=a...home-server.com

Couple Examples.... http://admin.u15194059.onlinehome-server.c...ies&ID=1895 http://admin.u15194059.onlinehome-server.c...ies&ID=2291

We have 100% nothing to do with this. Just a simple DNS lookup shows me quite a few things. admin.u15194059.onlinehome-server.com - belongs to 1&1 Internet Services It took me a few minutes to track it down, however here it is. Some not so nice guy is playing a google PR trick. Typing in my browser = admin.u15194059.onlinehome-server.com/cgi-bin/mysql/dl.pl?dbname=FH&table=System_Utilities&ID=2293 brings me to your site. HOWEVER typeing in my browser = admin.u15194059.onlinehome-server.com/cgi-bin/mysql/dl.pl?dbname=FH&table=System_Utilities&ID=**** (replace the four stars with any four digit number) takes me to other sites. So plain and simple. Someone is playing Page Rank Games of sort. Rest assured TCH has nothing to do with this. Sorry I cant offer you anymore, but we have no control over external sites.

Excellent news Thomas!
