Nicholas Naime Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 So, I finally came up with a video that I posted on YouTube. Prior to that I tested in on a few close friends. Almost all of them (96.4%) survived the testing, so I assume it is safe to expose the general public to it. Enjoy! P.S. Don't forget to link your friends to it, even if you don't like it. Quote
Nicholas Naime Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Thank you, guys! I'm glad you liked it. Quote

Nicholas Naime Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Sweet, that was actually really nice. Job well done And don't forget you gotta put up more videos now - can't wait to see your next one hehehe first Subscriber to your videos Thank you! Yup, I saw you subscribed. I'm definitely going to put up more videos. Will take some time, though. It was a bit of a hassle to shoot with a web cam. Need a lot of light and that's still not enough. Quote
phatfunkjazz Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Thank you! Yup, I saw you subscribed. I'm definitely going to put up more videos. Will take some time, though. It was a bit of a hassle to shoot with a web cam. Need a lot of light and that's still not enough. I thought the lighting was good; the really important part is the audio, which comes through crystal clear. You can really hear the entire range of your bass. Are you playing direct into the computer, or are you going through a processor/mixer first? Whatever your method, it sounds great! Your technical facility is clean and the music itself is really sweet. I like the chord progression...this tune is reminiscent of Michael Manring, although you are clearly doing your own thing. Can you tell I'm an ex-bass player? I played 4-string primarily, in Funk, Jazz, and Blues bands. I even tried to incorporate some tapping techniques into my groove playing, kind of like Roscoe Beck, when he was with Robben Ford. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music, looking forward to hearing (and seeing) some more. peace, Stefan Quote
TCH-Andy Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Excellent, it's certainly safe to expose to the general public Keep up the good work Quote
TCH-Vivek Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Nice one! I really liked it a lot. Keep up the good work and we do expect more in the future. Quote
Nicholas Naime Posted March 25, 2008 Author Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Thank you Vivek! Thank you Andy! Thank you Stefan! I thought the lighting was good; the really important part is the audio, which comes through crystal clear. I did quite a bit of post processing in iMovie to brighten up the picture. I lost some color on the way, so I had to compensate for that by tinting the entire image. Still, the output of the web cam is pretty noisy, and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. I agree that the audio is important, but it would be great if along with pleasing the ear I could please the eye. You can really hear the entire range of your bass. Are you playing direct into the computer, or are you going through a processor/mixer first? Whatever your method, it sounds great! I fed the bass into M-Audio's Ozonic audio interface and into Logic Pro. There I used Guitar Rig and Space Designer for processing. Then I bounced the track and did some post-processing in Peak. (YouTube overcompressed the audio quite a bit; I didn't know it would happen.) Your technical facility is clean and the music itself is really sweet. Thank you! I'm actually a "faux" bass player. My main instrument is the guitar (you can see its 7-string headstock behind me in the video). Thank you for sharing your wonderful music, looking forward to hearing (and seeing) some more. You're welcome, and I'm definitely planning to post more videos. Nicholas Naime Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 That's great! My brother used to work at a zoo (at the aviary and then the terrarium), and I used to hang out with him quite a bit. Later he and I worked together at a live reptile exhibit. Boy was it fun! Quote
Nicholas Naime Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 (edited) Hi everyone, I made another video— . I wrote the song back in 2001–2002 and decided to revisit it making a video on the way. Hope you'll enjoy it. Here's the original 2002 version of it. Edited September 14, 2008 by Nicholas Naime Quote
