I am a very proud dad today.

My son (billy) finally caught the big one he has been hunting all summer.

Fished weighed in a 5.10 pounds and measured 21 inches in length.

That's a nice bass for these northen states.

He is very proud.

Here is a photo.

Fish was so heavy for him he had to use both arms to hold it up for the photo.

;)

Congrats to young Billy! Being from a fishing community, I can appreciate that catch! And the boy did great! ;)

Thanks for sharing. I remember my first fish, what a day that was. Out on the dock at my Grandma's new house on the South river, a stone's throw away from the Chesapeake. We fished most of the afternoon and I finally landed this huge fish. It was big and brown with a huge mouth with teeth and the ugliest thing I ever saw. We took movie pictures (super 8) of our trophy, me the proud fisherman, and planned on cooking our first meal.

The neighbor decided to come down and greet the new folks on the block and see what all the commotion was about. I proudly displayed my fish and the man laughed and said he hoped we had other things to eat for dinner. The fish I caught was a Toadfish and was not eatable and some were even poisonous, it was so bad even the crabs would not eat it.

I have since caught many fish but will always remember that first "bigone".

Hope your son catches many more.

Awesome Billy!! That's a keeper!

I'ts been a long time since I spent my spare time fishing for "the big one" ... but I sure remember how it felt. Really GREAT!!! Makes for some super story-telling after doesn't it?

Tight lines kiddo! :)

Nice catch Billy! It certainly does bring back memories. I can remember my Dad taking me out on the Clackamas river many, many times before I finally caught that first elusive winter steelhead. Good memories for sure.

Thanks for sharing! :)

I'll bet you're a very proud Dad too, Bill. It's so great that you can spend time together while he's young.
