  1. This is what I ended up buying: * PowerBook 1.5GHz (15.2” TFT) * 1.5GHz PowerPC G4 with 128MB Graphics Memory * 512MB DDR333 SDRAM - 2x256 SO-DIMMs * 80GB Ultra ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm * SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) * AirPort Extreme Card * Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English * iSight * Office 2004 for Mac - Student and Teacher Edition All for the bargain basement price of $2,881.39. 3-5 days shipping and I shall have it. Can't wait.
  2. It's probably not as pretty as those frames, but I just use css border styles to emulate frames. You can also use some nifty drop shadow techniques that were documented, I believe, at a list apart.
  3. Well most of them can be, as long as you can php include or it iframe it... It just depends on your level of comfortability. You might look at hotscripts.com for a lightweight one; or wordpress.org and textpattern.com for other free ones. =)
  4. Well, I wanted to thank the huge amount of people that came forth and made suggestions for a notebook for when I head up north to Smith. In the end, after much consideration, I decided on the 1.5Ghz SuperDrive Powerbook G4 15". Just thought I'd update all of you that are waiting, breath held, to hear my decision... er - I hope that's noone, but anyway. *grins* Ordering it in a few days... my first mac, I'm so excited!
  5. Well, if they use mt-blacklist and the master blacklist, it's very possible. This is one of the problems that I, personally, have with centralized blacklists and people that don't check them. It's unfortunate that he's ruling out an entire extension. Strange.
  6. That'd be another reason to contact Jay - you could try email. Sometimes bad regexps do get through.
  7. Normally I can spell password. Actually, however, that word password needs to be replaced with your password. No space between -p and the password. So if your password was telephone, it'd be: -ptelephone. Clearer? And the email addresses is where cron will send failure notices. The backup is saved to the location you specify in the cron job according to the line I gave. Does that help? =)
  8. There are a lot of scripts at hotscripts.com that allow for this, you might want to peruse their php (or cgi if you prefer, but I'm biased) script section. =)
  9. Here is a definitive list of http status codes from the w3. =)
  10. Possibly, but many people - possibly most that might take part in this - would only know about/be interested in the immediate outcome ... and may need it more than a gamble on some large reward in the future....
  11. Blackcat - I would personally email Jay Allen (blacklist creator) about this as it's probably best taken up with him in regards to MTBlacklist.... I'm going to move this to a scripting forum in the meantime though, for organization. =)
  12. Hey glad to see that you got that working! Just from looking at it - it requires that the page be. php or parsing php yea?
  13. Did you have a look at the error files? Perhaps the .php file you are actioning needs to be chmod'd - those error logs would be the best way to ascertain that....
  14. I think that you need the actual url to your site, not localhost... or the path to the file, either way. =)
  15. annie, Maybe Magpie can help you?
  16. Paul, While someone here may be able to answer the question, it strikes me that this may be best taken up through a help desk ticket so that you can discuss your companies needs and come to a proper solution.
  17. Just be aware that, at least from what I've read, links that have query strings (with a ? in them) will not be treated with love by the search engines.
  18. Here's the results of a speed test for your site. That's probably the best thing you can use to optimize for dialup, in my opinion. I use that to optimize though my current design needs some work. I love the wavy title bar, and the color scheme is fantastic. Really great job. =)
  19. Well, what you need to decide is what you want from a blog. Do you want it to act as a CMS and control all/most of your site, or doyou simply want something that you can post some news to and have comments? no comments? how about trackbacks? sending/receiving? My personal favorite now is expressionengine. I moved off MT about a month ago to textpattern, then ee gave away some (1250) free licenses. Its $150 but it's worth every penny and then some, the power behind the software is absolutely immense... Textpattern is also fantastic but a lot simpler (although some have trouble getting their heads around it). If you JUST want blogging, I'd suggest going with wordpress - it's gpl'd so open source, uncer heavy developement and has a nice community. It'll give you everything that you could want in a blog system. =)
  20. How can you deride my super soaker, Tompas?!?! *sniffs dramatically*

It's a dangerous precedent. I personally wouldn't use that for private communications; however when you sign up for it, I believe that you *agree* to that scanning. For me, that's the crucial point. If they were doing it without an agreement in place, I'd be worried. It just screams of a step towards 'big brother' syndrome.
  22. *blinks* now what fun would *that* be?
  23. www and public_html link to the same place. =)
  24. You need to name it index.html for it to be the default page. =)
