If you're hosting an account here you ought to install a local blog option - that will give you maximum control and customization. There is a great thread over in General (What Blog Software or something) by Head Guru where this is all discussed. I personally suggest textpattern - but it depends on your comfort level with xhtml and css =)

ramone, The people at EE are looking at this. I'll add it to my bloglinles feed now to have a look at it - but you need to go to plugins.pmachine.com and make sure you have the latest version of the XML Encode plugin or you'll have problems. =) Moving this to the scripting forum.

*grins* On my mac I just normal click and drag to my desktop, no need to right click at all..... *whistles*

Oh! I missed the paypal thing - yes they're automated payments if you take the monthly option. =)

I'm very tired so bear with me. =) As far as the domain... you can test most things but if yes, some relative paths will have difficulties. I'm so confused about Navicat - is that something that runs on your machine to administer your remote database? That'd be purty neat if so. =) http://www.lisa-jill.com/phpinfo.php There is phpinfo for the server I'm on, and they're all the same as I understand it. =) Does something in there answer your question about globals? Sorry I'm not sure about all of the answerrs. I'm sure someone that can give you more definitive answers will pop in shortly!

1) Yes, to an extent. But it will be http://ipaddress/~username - so some relative paths etc may not work as expected. But otherwise yes. 2. If you take a proper mysql export then all you need to do is import it using phpmyadmin. If it is too large you can ftp it up and submit a ticket and ask them to import it locally to avoid timeouts. You can then ftp up teh templates directory of your phpbb directory (make sure you download them from your old site) and that should do it. 3) No idea what navicat is. =) Look forward to welcoming you to our family. Make sure you post in the intro forum so we can! =)

nat, if you remove the scrollingness of the div then you no longer get the empty space? (if you can do a short test where you remove the content that expands it too far, that'd be great). Just trying to ascertain if it really is the scrolling div causing it or not. =)

raevin, I still think you should put up your graphic gallery if you want to. Just be aware that once its on the 'net, it's available for the taking. After all - someone could always take a screenshot and crop it out. There's nothing you could do about that. That doesn't stop the majority of people from placing their stuff online, nor should it, imo. =) Good luck!

Is There A Quota On Our Main Cpanel Account?
LisaJill replied to dlevens's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
You do get a warning.. at 80%. =) If you go over it then it's suspended. Your customers won't receive an email about it, just you, to my knowledge. -
The linksys is really a good brand. I have the dual band one (supports b and g networks) but forget the model. The one thing I highly suggest is to avoid the heck out of SMC routers. What a horror. =/

raevin, by disabling right click you stop people from being able to use normal navigational functions. This can be incredibly frustrating for the end-user who has no desire at all to see a thing "under the hood" but likes to use their mouse to get around. They may then decide not to come back. =) The code that you are talking about to hide your html code can also be easily gotten around. Indeed, the better of those scripts have instructions littered around the web (often the higher search results than the script themselves) on how to break them. The end result here is that you end up frustrating visitors while not stopping any of the 'theft' that you think you are - it's a false sense of security, which is why I try to recommend against people doing this. =)

Is There A Quota On Our Main Cpanel Account?
LisaJill replied to dlevens's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Dennis, The quota on your account is for everything, including email and web space used. If your account goes oer its quota your users won't get an email, but your account will get suspended. That is why you get an email at 80% usage so that you can take action to avoid that from happening. The account quota is an umbrella quota for your entire account including anything stored there. Does that help to clarify? -
I've installed it about 5 times on TCH servers now - takes about 2 minutes each time. =)
-
Glad to have you as part of the family. Thank you for the great review. =)

*nods* I got it free when they gave away 1250 copies for people converting. But I'd say if I had to pay up the money now I would in a second. It's very much worth it. =)
-
This post has a rather detailed explanation of what will happen. =) Does that clarify it?
-
Yes, if you decide to do that all you need to do is submit a ticket and it will be done. =) Up or down.
-
Yes it does - it may go away if you uninstall the extensions. Otherwise, if you don't use frontpage, you can probably safely delete it. =)
-
Ok, the vti_* stuff is for frontpage extensions. If you go into cpanel and uninstall them it'll get rid of those. if you use frontpage extensions, keep them. styles-site.css can go, it's from mt. .htaccess should stay. =) nav_commentors.gif can go. atom.xml can go. postinfo.html I have no idea about, but I don't believe it's an MT file. Not sure what it is! Can open it up and see if you can figure it out? If you rebuild there is probably an archives directory as well - that would have been setup in weblog config. You want to delete the stuff in there too. Happy to help!
-
Well, textpattern itself doesn't have a large learning curve - but you're right, you'll need to create your own templates. that said there is a link to ready made templates here. I run expressionengine and while I had an easy time with it (having used MT for a year, then textpattern for a few months and wordpress for several other sites, I pick this stuff up quickly) it has a much steeper learning curve than txp and it is *not* free. It IS worth every penny, in my opinion. =) I'm quite active on the EE support forums as well, so if you need help let me know.
-
Oh no no no. Don't rebuild if you're getting rid of it - it'll just create extra files to get rid of. =) If you haven't rebuilt you can just delete the mt directory and database. =)
-
There is nothing in it to backup according to the original post...
-
haejin - did you ever "rebuild"? If you did - you should look for an archives type directory (you would have entered where that would be in the weblog setup). Otherwise, other than the database, it should not have put files anywhere. If you did rebuild there may be an index.html, archives.html, index.xml, index.rdf and rss.xml in the "base" directory that you set in weblog config. If you did not rebuild than none of that will be there. =) Hope that helps!
