  1. woe - I've woe.. erm, woefully sidetracked this thread. *shakes head* The dodo was a bird that is now extinct. Dutchmen are not extinct so.... I don't know what my point is. =) Perl is probably harder to install, after all, perl scripts are harder to install... why should that change? But there are many different p ossibilities for which build and package to use. It gets pretty confusing and in the end I decided I personally didn't want to deal with it. Now that I'm on a Mac, though, it's all a bit easier...
  2. woesoft, you type really well for an extinct bird. =) *nods* Apache is the best, by far, and is what TCH is using so that will be easiest to use to emulate the environment. Of course - we're on Linux and you're on windows so there are many differences, but every little bit counts? =)
  3. *winks* I'm just toooooo nice, you see? I've never done this. I believe you'll need to install apache (web server) as well - all in all it can be a real pain in the well, neck. =) My best suggestion is to either wait for someone here with more experience or google install php on windows and install perl on windows - lots of results for both with instructions and a lot of research ahead of you to decide on the best implementations. =) Sorry that I'm not more help =/
  4. Just as a quick explanation as to why the css would not have worked in this case. Once your domain has propogated, mt-static will be located at ******/mt-static. however, right now you don't have a domain name pointing there, so by using /mt-static you are teling it to go to the root and then up one. The root in this case was http://209.152.182.112/ so it was looking for http://209.152.182.112/mt-static but you actually had it in http://209.152.182.112/~mvfrytl/mt-static It appears Rick has intervened and fixed it up for you, but I just wanted to give you an explanation so that you could understand it for the future. =) Let me know if you have any questions!
  5. The short answer is 'yes' and if I was a bit more of a smartypants I'd just answer like that *winks* What operating system are you running? =)
  6. What's the url to your mt.cgi? I can probably tell you in about 1/2 a second why it's not working with that. =) But let me ask - what did you put in mt.cfg as the staticwebpath? Do you already have the domain going there or not yet? That should help troubleshoot it.
  7. Of course! I think the reason that email didn't work is because I split *after* I responded. *makes a note* =) Adding a user to the database is one of the most common mistakes and I made it the first time I set up a database under cpanel. When you can have unlimited databases it's an important step to be able to take. =) Glad you got it working!
  8. You have to create the database prior to running mt-load.cgi. You also have to make sure that those lines are in mt.cfg first so that you're sure that you're using the mysql (preferred) setup. It would give an entirely different error, though, if it was the database. Definitely check the permissions like Bruce said. =)
  9. In most browsers favicons are not handled by the same caching mechanism as pages, and so can take some mind-boggling effort to get to show. I just give it a few reloads and eventually you'll look and be surprised that it's there. =)
  10. You would require dedicated hosting for streaming media. The details of the pricing can be located on the dedicated hosting page Hope that helps! =)
  11. (split the topic and moved the relevant posts to the proper forum for organization.) Pat - did you go into cpanel, mysql databases and add a database, a user, and add the user to the database? It sounds like you haven't done that step which is necessary. So as a rundown: Database name: cpanelname_dbname Database password: passwordyouchose Database server: localhost Table prefix: leave it alone =) If you go into mysql from cpanel you should see a bunch of query strings, that should indicate it is set up right, and it will show the exact names - all of which are case sensitive so be careful with that. Let me know if you need more help. =)
  12. phpmyadmin comes installed on our servers, does that not do what you want? What are your requirements? I'm not familiar with the program you mentioned so some more details would help =)
  13. It's very possible that it got uploaded in binary or something else silly and that re-uploading it in ascii will fix it. Definitely worth a shot =)
  14. I found a thread about this http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=...bd22cc9d10%2083 It was the only one that I was able to find - it would definitely be worth trying to upload the file mentioned there as that may well help. =) Sorry that I could not help more...
  15. andy, does easymoblog have a config setting for time zone or anything like that? If not, you may wish to post something to their support about adding that - would seem to be a common thing to com e up against, especially for travellers. Don't really know of any other scripts unless you wanted a hosted service like textamerica, etc....
  16. AOL uses scripted support for their telephone technical support. The support technician has a set of questions that drills down based off what the customer says. The Logitech and Olympus sites, I believe, have similar versions of this for drilling down to the right documentation for what product. I'm not sure what the backend is for this - pure html could do it, a databse would be easier to add questions and answers to. I'm not even sure of the best keywords to try to find something like this. =/ I suspect they'd either be custom in-house scripts or expensive, too, possibly.
  17. I'm not sure that you can run this script, it says that it requires " (95/98/ME/NT/2000) " and our servers are Linux. But later in the instructions it gives you a command for non-windows. How did you manage to run ./build.sh? That is usually run from shell and might explain why you're having difficulties. I haven't used that script though, so perhaps someone else has some insight. =)
  18. This is really a script issue so I'm going to move it to the script section. We have some perl coders around here that are really good so that should help them to find ya. =)
  19. Check the permissions, they should probably be 755. =)
  20. Happy you got it working finally. =)
  21. andy, in your error log (through cpanel) are there any errors there? It may be a permissions problem, and you might want to make sure your php scripts are set to 755 (unless the scripts documentation actually specify something else). Just something to try.
  22. andy and I have been in PM's, the path and command look right to me so I am at a loss. If anyone else has any ideas please post since this is still unresolved. =/ The problelm is that even with the full path it's not finding the file, it's definitely there and directories/cases etc. match. =)
  23. Put a / before home and try that. You can also set it to run in a few minutes to test it - then put the proper schedule in once it works. =)
  24. andy, What is the exact command that you're placing into cron? Are these errors the emailed results or something else? Thanks =)
  25. You can pm me through this board, not a worry. Just click on PM under my post. =)
