  1. Are you seeing them in the WP admin panel?
  2. !!blue, I'm not sure what's going on as I don't use wodpress and wouldn't know where to begin. We have a few WP users here though so hopefully someone can shed some light on this. In the meantime, you might consider posting on theri support forums or contacting the plugin author as they may be able to shed some light on this. Let us know how it goes!
  3. There we go, a search on the MT forums (NOT restricted to the last 30 days, must change that) for "import from .html" brought up a few results here and here - the first post has the script, the second one suggests a manual solution. =)
  4. The post would be in the MT forums, not here. I'll see if I can dredge it up, I think that's really your only hope now if you don't have any normal exports. =)
  5. If you were using Berkeley DB on your old host you would really need to go there and export the e ntries then import them into wordpress here. Moving a berkeley db site is nearly impossible because, well, that db system stinks. =) Any little thing can make it explode. Do you have access to your old MT install? Or even old .html archives? There is a script to build an import file from those - it's floating around the MT forums somewhere.
  6. My entire site is managed with ExpressionEngine. Of the popular free ones there are wordpress and textpattern - but these are not that easy to integrate with an existing site, although that may have changed, I am a bit behind. There are quite a few others but you want something fairly simple. Unfortunately, sometimes going through hotscripts.com is the best thing to do. =)
  7. Unless you want to do it manually *grins* I'd suggest having a look at "blogs" through hotscripts.com and doing ga search here. That's the most common way to deliver news. Some are easier than others to integrate into an existing design.
  8. Added. =)
  9. I said that I did. It's not actually odd - the reason for that is that because you're in a shared hosting environment many people can make databases, if it were just the name of the database there could be confusion/difficulty in making them. This way it's easier to make sure the user doesn't try a duplicate name. =)
  10. The database name should be cpanelname_database name. That may help.
  11. Any application that requires it's own user, and runs as it's own service constantly requires it's own server. These can end up taking a lot of resources and you're just not going to get that on $5/month. =) You can read about dedicated servers here and if you are interested you should submit a ticket to sales to see if any are available. =)
  12. there's a huge price difference. =) You can tell from how much you're paying and what plan you signed up with.
  13. Um, there's nothing in our policy about it. As far as I know what google would read is the same pretty much anyway. Shouldn't be a problem. =) I'm going to make an addendum to that - if anyone comes across this, and you post your links in another language, you need to include the translation for me here (not on your site) - so that I know what I'm reading/looking for.
  14. One of the things that people usually run into is that they add the user, they add the database, but they don't add the user to the database. You need to make sure you choose the proper dropdowns in MySQL manager and click "Add user to database" -> proof that's done is a bunch of database init strings. =) check that's done, the installation looks fairly straightforward....
  15. Added. =)
  16. Good to hear it. =)
  17. have you tried 666? After you chmod then try to run the script - what's the error? And... please, if you want help - do you have a link to this script?
  18. Please don't use the "report this post" link to get support - just post here and we'll help. As mentioned we need to know the link to the original script and what you've done to try to rectify this so far - did you try changing the script to be writable?
  19. It sounds like you need to change permissions on the script. If you can include a link to the script and some more details, that'd help a lot. I'm moving this for organization. =)
  20. I'll try to answer your other questions. =) There's no checklist. If your other host was cpanel based then you can submit a ticket and tech can try (not all host's allow that connection, so it's not gauranteed) - if not you need to ftp down everything from your old host to your computer then ftp it up to your site on our servers. If you have mysql databases you'll need to export then import here. Google phpbb vs invision. =) The normal server backups there is no cost, and there's no cost for you to run your own backups. What hosting package are you looking at? On a shared hosting package (web hosting and reseller) then you're not going to have flexibility here. Whatever is installed is whatever cpanel installs. The exception here is that tech is often very willing to install CPAN modules on request. If you are on a dedicated MANAGED server then you can request installs I believe - though I'm not familiar with that particular hosting. If you are un a dedicated UNmanaged server then you can do whatever you please. =) Most forums handle this very well and I haven't seen a problem with it. But if you are going to do mass mailings then you can't spam (can read the AUP on that) and you need to use a system that can send the mail over a period of time, if it's more than 50 recipients. For what you describe yes you can do that. You can have unlimited domains pointing to the root of your site - and you can have email addresses for them. What you could not have (which is not in your description) is a domain pointing to a subdomain of your site - for that you need multiple accounts or a reseller account. Configurable by you, it can. =) The server does not scan for spam automatically. You can enable Spam Assassin and do what you will with it. No. =) Yep. =) Hope that helps!
  21. There's a drop down box in the upper right, use that to choose a mailbox. =)
  22. There is a link to the help desk at the top of the forums.
  23. I've occasionally had problems like this with script produced files that erroneously got set to owner / group of nobody. The only way to rectify it is to submit a ticket. =)
  24. It actually took it about 20 minutes to transfer that one file (which is tiny) but it finally made it, surprised it didn't time out. Seems much better today; not sure what they're doing to the networks here. I miss not going through a University.
