I've used the "PHP Easy Download" from here http://www.ironclad.net/scripts/ Straight forward to use, what ever directory you set it to use it provides the 'save as' or 'run' dialoge prompt for files with the file extensions you set it to offer for downloads. HTH, Tom

Hi Don, I know I'm going , you are saying that you can install Apache and PHP to a flash drive, then plug it into any computer and it works Thats cool...How about MySql too, have you tried that also? Thanks, Tom
-
Hi mystic, Yes, phpbb is quite easy to install. Creating your MySQL database first may be the only problem, depending on your familiaorty of doing it. As Bruce says it is best to install it from your own download of it, as opposed to using cpanel. What exactly is the hangup? The phpbb directions are pretty clear, no use in re-writing the whole directions here if only one bit of info is the hang up I like Invision also (though not as much as I used to, I think they are getting a little big for their britches lol), it's install procedure is the same as phpbb, input your database paramaters and admin account info. HTH, Tom

Thank you David for pointing that out Tom

Hi Gail, You are correct, jhead is what read's and displays an images exif data. jhead can be downloaded here http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/ Just place it in your Gallery directory, and then in your gallery/config.php file, enter the path to jhead, just as the other paths that need to be entered. The "jpegtran" is not needed, I have not even figured out what it is for. About the 'register_globals' needing to be 'off', I believe I saw a topic here recently stating that it could be turned off by a '.htaccess' file, which I'll search for in a bit. I myself tried an install of Gallery 1.5 last week, and got so many errors on the config.php page I gave up on it for now , till someday I might have time.... Now to get personal....Poor Gail had to come here and ask her Gallery question, as I been been ignoring her and the rest of my friends at webpagefun.com, a website both Gail and I and another fine lady named Lorraine run just to help each other and our friends with things such as this Gallery question. Sorry Gail But she knows I'm busy farming now HTH, Tom

Hmmm, sounds interesting........ No harm, though I wasn't sure where you were coming from I did want to make clear to paulo or anyone else, that what I pointed out would only work if installed in the top level phpbb directory, if modifying the path as I did
-
I should quantify my statement by saying that this what I had to do, when running it from within the main phpbb directory. I never did place it in the install directory. This is what I did, and it worked
-
Hi paulo, I have run across this also. Look in the file 'update_to_latest.php', or what ever it is. At about line 45 you will find this >$phpbb_root_path = './../'; replace it so it looks like this >$phpbb_root_path = ''; (That is 2 single apostrophe’s, not one quote symbol) Then call for this page in your browser again to run it, then delete or re-name it so it cannot be ran again. HTH, Tom

Hi You need to set/change the nameservers at your registrar to what was specified in your TCH welcome email. At that point, through the registrar, propagation begins. I have seen propagation take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 days In your welcome email, there will be links, so you can access your cpanel and server space via the server IP and your user name. Yes, you can add and edit your content via the IP/user name combo. I think these are the questions you are asking. HTH, Tom

Well thats a good one I dont have access to v2.x IPB to root through it, so I'll have to defer to someone else who may. Looking at the source of the page, you can see there is no 'border=0' for the image, yet for the reply button there is. Why ><a href="#" onclick="multiquote_add(9); return false;" title="Toggle multiquote addition"><img src="style_images/1/p_mq_remove.gif" name="mad_9" alt="-" /></a><a href="http://www.forum.ezydrop.biz/index.php?act=Post&CODE=02&f=11&t=7&qpid=9" title="Reply directly to this post"><img src='style_images/1/p_quote.gif' border='0' alt='Quote Post' /></a>

Thats a good tutorial Don, someone put a lot of well used time into it. dyrymi, by borders you mean the blue or purple border of a hyperlink? Have you done any editing of the CSS pages etc? Do you have a link you care to post, so we can have a looksee? Too many questions huh Tom
-
I've spent lots of time there myself in the past looking for it Bruce , so for once I remember something . IPB just doesn't make their config pages very logical in my opinion, at least in the v1.3 I'm familiar with. Maybe in this new v2.xx they have it better layed out, but I haven't spent the $60 to buy it and find out. I decided to learn phpbb forums instead
-
Hi dyrymi, It is done on a user group basis, so go to Users and Groups, Manage User Groups, then click Edit Group for the group you wish to edit. Then scroll down to where it says POST: Max upload file size (in KB), and enter your number there. Then repeat for every user Group you wish to change. HTH, Tom

Phpbb Vulnerability (versions Older Than 2.0.11)
tomowa replied to MikeJ's topic in Security Discussions
Hi erisande, We had a bit of disscusion about upgrade to .13 here, if it is any help to you http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...81entry122781 HTH, Tom -
This is what my knowledge is also with WHM/Cpanel managed servers. The first seven digits of the domain name. Certainly not random. And how this can be 'secure' is beyond me. Take the first seven digits of the domain name, and you have half of the persons account info. If it was truely random, like "Xi8R4sS" that would be great, but if not, why not just let the user specify his desired username when he signs up. It only take 5 second's to type it in during creation. I have a domain 'tomowa'. When I created it, the host where it is currently hosted added another digit to it, to make it 7 digits, and I found the resulting name 'stupid' so to speak. He wouldn't delete the account, and create a new one for. Thats one of many reasons I am looking for some place new to move to. Just my ramblings Tom Hi Bruce, while I was making my post I see you added a bit of info..It helps explain things as to the who, how and why
-
That URL is showing the directory contents of your webspace. You need to create an 'index.html' file (your homepage) in order for your domain name (or ip and user name combo) to display it. A moderator would have to tend to this, but from my point of view, it is not a good idea to publish your account user name, someone into doing harm (which would be no one here at TCH) now has half the info needed to hack into your site. And seeing the subject matter, it will be 'controversial' to some. Just a bit of knowledge to keep in mind. HTH, Tom

tomowa replied to OldTimer's topic in Software/Scripts/Other Alerts
Glad you got it mission , I know it is sure a good feeling to get something finally working that has been a challenge. A bit off topic now, but Carbonize, I know I have run across you before, and I thought it was on a phpbb help forum somewhere, but then I got to looking, and I see I use the access stats script you put together http://proxy2.de/scripts.php. I do put it to good use, thanks for it! Good Evening, Tom -

Phpbb 2.0.13 Released - Critical Updatebb
tomowa replied to OldTimer's topic in Software/Scripts/Other Alerts
Hi Mission, Since you do not use the subsilver skin, you do not need to do any updating of the files for it. For you 'genElectro' skin, you need to manually edit the files that need updating, you cannot just overwrite them with the complete updated files. Doing so will 'wreck' your skin. It can be downloaded here http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t...4295dad5db09c0c, below here is the manual upgrade that you need to do. You also need to upload the file "update_to_latest.php" and run it to update the database as needed. Ok, I see the reason for your question that started this topic. You are using frame's, and from the index.html it is linking to an index.php, which is in the same directory. It all works, and you can call for the page just by it's directory name, as it looks for the index.html. Now, to really make it cool (not a critique LOL!!!), you would make the 'header' a PHP page, and then using the php 'include' function, make all those various pages you link to include that header right into them. Then you would not have the scroll bar looking 'out of place', it appearing on the target pages, but not on the header. I just got my PHP book last week to start in on PHP, but have only had time to glance through it so far and not write any code yet, but the PHP includes was one of the first concepts I read about in it Isn't this fun
-
Your welcome Weezy It's new to me too, but where does one find time to play with all the neat PHP scripts that are out there
-
Yes, you can, but which one will display when just entering the directory name, will depend on what your index manager is told to what extensions to recognize as the 'index' page. If you want to be able to call up either page, you will have to spell out the whole path to the file name, complete with the extension, .php or .html. HTH, Tom
-
I would use something simple, like this forum setup here. Use Invision or phpbb, you can make the whole thing only visable to those who have a password for general info for all clients, then make different categories for specific clients, and using access permissions, they could only see their indivdual category, where you could collaborate back and forth HTH, Tom
