Hi Michael, Yes, it will work what you want to do (I have done this before), but not in one step. When you go to Outlook 2003, Calendar, File, Save as Web Page, in the 'Calendar Title' box, put what you want to show up on the page headers, such as "Joes Big Company". Then, in the file name box, save it somewhere on your computer, such as 'My Docs/joes_big_company _calendar'. It will then create a bunch of HTML files, and navigation buttons and a css sheet. Of course in the dialoge box, enter the date range(s) you want to include in the calendar. Next, you need to FTP this folder with all the calendar data, to your TCH server. Just drag the whole 'joes_big_company _calendar' folder to your 'public_html' folder. Then, to access it via the internet, go to www.mydomain.comm/joes_big_company_calendar. So you will have to go through this same process, when ever you update the Outlook 2003 calendar on your computer. It's not a perfect solution, but it's free and pretty simple. I wish they had the same feature for Outlook contacts. HTH, Tom

Hi Lorraine, Under the site properties for the domain, then for 'Host Address', do you have an IP address, or domain name? If it is IP address, put in the domain name instead (such as abc.com). When I hosted this domain for you, it had a 8 character password, but yes, your password here at TCH is 9 characters. If CuteFTP was accessing it via IP address, you were then viewing it from my server, (as I have not removed it from it yet) . Oldiesmann at the SMF forums solved it Thanks Bruce and Jim for your assistance here http://www.simplemachines.org/community/in...p?topic=91402.0 But why I wonder....This forum here is at www.webpagefun.com, and on server 122. Another SMF I admin www.lowcountrymudrats.com/forum on server 110, works just fine with "enable basic HTML" enabled. Also when I install this webpagefun forum on my home server, it works just fine with it enabled. The only difference I see, is the home server is Apache on Windows, as opposed to Apache on a Unix server at TCH. Gotta be a system admin somewhere who could explain why

Thanks Jim, I shall install another SMF, make a couple posts to it then see how they load. No, there are not many (if any) email notices going out. The forum is almost dead , only three of us who occasionally use it. It's the exact, 30 seconds plus a few milliseconds, that confounds me, that it takes to load a topic. (it was the same thing without having the 'page load time activated', I just did that to be able to document waht the load times were). The size of the database is 2.7mb, so I cannot see that as a problem. The import into phpBB then back sounds interesting...... I'll report back when I get the new SMF installed. Tom

Well, starting from the beginning.....I had a Invision (IPB) forum version 1.3. Knowing I was 'giving' this forum http://www.webpagefun.com to another person (Lorraine, or LF from MC, here at TCH), and it would be moving to a different server, I converted it from the outdated IPB 1.3, to the lastest SMF version, 1.07. This is the third one of these I have done, no problems before. Since the conversion, when you click a 'forum', no problem. When you click a topic within a forum, it takes forever for it to load, in fact, it takes 30 seconds, plus a few milliseconds, such as . Click a different topic, same thing, 30+ milliseconds. This was evident on the 'old' server, since I converted it, and on the new one here at TCH, which was moved here via cpanel restore, so it is not a server problem. We have done every 'optimization' etc from the SMF admin panel. I installed a second copy of SMF in another directory http://www.webpagefun.com/smf, then imported the same database as the first one into it, and the same problem .I then installed the same version 1.07 of SMF on my home server, imported the database into it, and it works just fine, any page creation in milliseconds. I can see something wrong with a database, causing slow load times, but exactly 30+ seconds, everytime?? So far rummaging through the SMF forums has been useless, but I have not yet posted there with the situation. Before I do, does anybody here have a clue Thanks, Tom

I found this script a couple months ago at Hotscripts, as Bruce suggests. I think it is what you are looking for. It allows someone with little HTML (or no) knowledge to log into a page and edit its content. Thanks Bruce, I just got it going Now I can go to work! This was it: It was a MySQL database issue, the 'old' server version of MySQL was MySQL 4.1.14-standard The 'new' server MySQL version was MySQL 4.0.25-standard, an older version. Had to remove references to 'DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1' and 'COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci' in the MySQL dump, then upload the dump again. All works now I actually ended up at WordPress forum, to find this solution http://wordpress.org/support/topic/61160.

Greetings, I sent my brother here to TCH. TCH techs moved the whole account from the previous webhost. All well so far, so it looks at first http://www.lowcountrymudrats.com. Yet no one can make a post to the SMF forum. The message when posting is: So I downloaded the database dump from the previous host, and using phpadmin, went to upload and inflate the dump file, and ened up with this: The MySQL version at the previous host was MySQL 4.1.14-standard Here at TCH server 110 it is MySQL 4.0.25-standard I believe this is the problem. Hi Joe, yes, as Steve states, when you setup your account in Outlook or Outlook Express, set it up as an IMAP account, instead of a POP3. I don't know if other email programs have this, though I imagine they would I tried this in Outlook and OE, and it works, but I didn't like it, though I don't remember why

Hi Joe, Go into the account setup (Outlook, Outlook Express or whatever), and under the advanced tab, select 'leave a copy on server', then select a time frame, I use '5 days'. I do this for the same reason you desire, I receive my POP3 email in 4 different places or so. HTH, Tom

I did the same thing last summer, only it was an hours worth of a voice recording I did to SD flash memory stick. As soon as I deleted it, well you know the feeling I found this http://www.stompsoft.com/recoverlostdata.html, it worked perefect. I was amazed, something that did what it claimed to . I used it once again, although it fails me now as to what the reason was, but I remember it worked. All as long as you have not written to the media after the deletion. Good Luck, Tom

Hi Moon, I agree with what bellringr says, taking the time to learn HTML will be most satisfing to you, especially when you can look and say "wow, I did this all by myself" But I also understand the desire to 'get things done as quick as possible'.... So I have been asking myself, in following your questions, should I just spell out everything exact code as you need it, that I have figured out in time when I was modifing IPB, or give you 'tips' on what to do....... So here goes my 'tips', just to get you thinking , first, before you make any change to a template, save a copy of the existing on your computer, that way if you really mess it up, just replace it with your good one. Then, to add in something like a 'banner', start just by placing a few characters in the HTML (like few XXXXX's), just to see where they show up, in relation to everything else. Then place you banner on the server, might as well put it in the same directory as the IPB logo, that way you can use the same file path to call for it. Then go and place you image code to call for it. Just keep in mind when placing this banner, not everyone has the same size monitor at the same resolution as yours. It may look great on your's, but some poor soul still using a 15" at a 640 x 480 resolution would be different from a 19" at 1024 x 768 or even greater. You certainly don't want it to be so big that it forces a horizontal scroll bar in the browser window. As Bruce says the editing you need to do is in the "skin_global file", just like in one of your last posts when you were changing your logo, which you figured out So I say, play around a bit and see what you can do, then when the need comes for a specific question, it will be easy to provide the specific help needed Good day , Tom

Hi Moon, I see you have changed the code on your site a bit from what you posted above, as you must have found what was wrong with the above code. This is what your site currently shows, (and producing a red X...as no such image exists). >http://www.mysite.com/InvisionBoard/style_images/1/logo4.gif If the logo you want to display is a .gif, just place the image in the "InvisionBoard/style_images/1/" folder, and name it 'logo4.gif'. It will then display. If you have a .jpg to display, name it whatever....and place it in the same folder. Then you will have to edit the "skin_global.php" file, to reflect the .jpg image name. Hey glad you got it Invision offers a 'free limited' version of 2.xxx http://www.invisionboard.com/?triallimited and the complete 2.xxx version http://www.invisionboard.com/act.ips/download which cost $$ Either of these have to be manually installed to your TCH server by yourself. To make you chatroom link 'fit' with the rest of the header, you need a icon next to it. On a IPB I did like you are doing, I just used the same 'members' icon that is already displayed, and coded it to appear next to the 'chatroom' link. Just follow the same code that is currently displaying the icons. You can also remove the 'pipe' or "|" that is appearing with the link, unless you placed that there on purpose. Hi moondog, Your in the right direction, but you need to place the right file name in your link. http://www.mysite.com/InvisionBoard/ Where you have this >http://mysite.com/ , you need to have the actual path to the chat room, it could be a relative link, but not knowing your file structure my example here will be an absolute link, such as >http://mysite.com/phpchatroom/ , with the "phpchatroom" being the actual directory name of the chat you installed. If the chat directory does not have an 'index.html' or 'index.php' file, you will also have to include the file name it needs to direct to the chat 'homepage'. Then you need to replace the word 'home' with something more descriptive such as 'Chatroom'. What ever you place there is the actual wording that shows up on the page for the link. The file names given in the tutorial are 'generic', just to show the point, and then need to be modified as needed by you the webmaster. Just a FYI, the Invision 1.2 you are using is over 2 years old and way out of date as far as security concerns. It is in fact not even distributed or supported by Invision anymore, so you are on your own as far as support. I have no idea what your site is about and what kind of people it will attract, but if someone is intent wrecking havoc and has the knowledge....you never know. HTH, Tom

Greetings all, All today I had problems FTPing up a 6.58mb file to my reseller space, or any domains under my reseller space. It would go anywhere from 30% to 50% or so. Yet the file would upload to my local ISP server, no problem. Well that led me to believe there might be a server issue. I submitted a help desk ticket at 9:39pm PDT, at 9:43pm I had a reply of 'investigating', and at 9:54pm a reply that tech staff had uploaded a 25mb file and left it for me to see. So no server problems. I was left with a suggestion to check my router and/or firewall settings. Well that got me thinking, I'm trying a new firewall (instead of Zone ALarm), from AVG http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1. I disabled it, and my upload went even faster than it did to my local ISP server 50 miles away. So now I just to figure out why I was able to FTP to local ISP, yet not TCH. Hi effy, Yes, 777 would be correct. It may be the upload is bigger than allowed, or the upload extension is not allowed. Hi Lee, I had the same expireance, discussed here http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=19110. It involves the fact that 'cpanel' does not count disk usage of files owned by 'nobody', as opposed to file's owned by your user name. If you have sripts running, such as 'Gallery' as I do, Gallery, (which is in fact the server) is the owner of the files, and thus cpanel does not count them in your disk usage reported on your main cpanel page. Yet it does show the true disk usage when you look at 'disk usage'. Go figure. Tech staff can go and change the ownership of the files from 'nobody' to your 'username', but then your scripts will throw errors until you go through and CHMOD the effected files to 777. In the above mentioned thread, David developed a script to do a 'batch' CHMOD change, which Gail used on Coppermine Gallery, which could probably be modifed to use on different scripts, but for me, no time to play as such HTH, Tom
