Well, I cannot say for sure on all of the questions above but other users here are running SMF. We cannot change information in php.ini as it effects all users on a shared server, however some things can be changed in your .htaccess file to make using the forum software easier.

The metatag information is stored in the meta.php file that resides in the includes folder.

Where is the link pointed to? Is it a relative link like page.html or an absolute link like http://www.yoursite.com/page.html? If it is like the latter then it is because that page does not exist on the internet yet as you have not published it.

Not all me, I had an inkling what it was but the real solver was RobertM. I could not see your htaccess and asked him to look in to it. As you sent me the contents of the file, Robert found it and solved it. I am happy it is now working though.

For future reference, if you have an index file in your root and it still shows a directory listing then you will want to open a ticket. I will let you know what I find though.

Please also understand that we are doing our best to help you but there is only so much we can do when it comes to third party scripts. Those of us that do use it are not tech support for that script so any help comes from our own personal knowledge of it. Though not often, there have been times that we have provided all the knowledge we have to a situation and it still has not resolved the issue and I believe we may have met that situation in this instance. I understand you have tried the support of the owners of the script to no avail but you may want to push it a little more with them. Though I cannot speak for everyone here and am just judging this from the replies I have seen so far, it looks like we may have come to an impasse. Of course I have been known to be wrong, there may yet be a member that has not chimed in yet.
