I didnt at first. THen after I tried that, the css and the photos worked, but the includes didnt. If I have to use htdocs as the root, then I cant use it for multiple sites. Perhaps this isnt what Im looking for. Don, You are a gentleman and a scholar. thanks for your help!

The path to the image on the index page of my site is When I look at it Via XAMPPLITE it doesnt show up. I assume it is because it is looking for it in "xampplite/assets/" and not in "xampplite/jensenconnection/assets/" Does that make sense? I just tried making Xampplite the root to solve the problem and that didnt work either. I got the following screen. (which should look like the homepage on my site) It looks like I am partway there, just still having issues (my life story)

Jayson, I was able to download it. Im not sure whats happening to make it stop @ 50% for you. I do have another question for everyone though I am able to put the files in the htdocs folder, and view them. My problem now, is that ll of my paths are relative to the root. When I look at them using Xampplite, it appears as though my relative paths are messed up. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Now dont make me feel stupid. While I do have it set up, I am still trying to figure out the settings so that I can actually use it. Am I missing something? Perhaps I should retract the years worth of bellybutton lint comment.

K, so I have downloaded Xampplite, and have it on my thumbdrive. When I type http://127.0.0.1 into my browser I get that working. I cant however seem to get the settings right for dreamweaver. I assume once I get them right, I can preview the page, and it will use the test server. These are the settings I have, But I have no idea if they are right (a years collection of belly button lint to the person who is the most helpfull)

OK, so I do understand that much. I guess my question would be "why do I use one or the other?"

First Question I was reading a tutorial about doing nav menus in css The tutorial said to do "ul#navlist" and I would have always thougt to do "#navlist ul". Is there a difference? If so, what? Second Question; I always get confused about doing .navlist vs #navlist. Anyone have any insight as to which to use when?

Working for me now, but I have had problems in the past

I went and installed Website Baker per this thread. I currently have both up on my site (until I decide which one to keep). Here is what I found out. WordPress I learned a lot in hacking the theme to match my site. It still isn't exactly how I want it, but its getting there. It took a while and was hard work. One of the most difficult things is that the DIVs were spread across 3 different php documents (header/footer/index). A DIV would start in the header.php and then close in the index.php. Once I got the feel of that it was OK. It did however exclude me from using the WYSISYG portion of dream weaver. Most of the things I did, had to be with code (thus the learning experience). Website Baker Piece of cake to get done. I just took my existing home page, and took out some of the content. I then simply copy and pasted the variable content into my site. I found all of the code needed here. The only CSS that I had to add to it (other than my existing CSS file) was a few things for the menu. I just adjusted the CSS format to match their ul li type of menu. Done.

Another satisfying point is that now my site has a blog, guestbook, and Coppermine all integrated into it so that is all has the same feel.

I just spent a few hours with the help of this tutorial getting a WP blog to fit the look one of my sites. Wow! Talk about a learning experience. Rip it apart, then put it back together again. While I feel a great deal of satisfaction having gotten Wordpress close to how I want it, I am still unsure if I like the blog platform. Perhaps I might try to do the same type of thing with WebsiteBaker. If anyone wants to see the results, it is in the blog section of JensenConnection.com. It is going to be a place for my father to communicate thoughts etc to his family. I guess when you get to a certain age patriarchs like having a soapbox to preach from. Itll be fun. (as of right now, all of the content is just filler. Most things dont even make sense)

On the home page of my jensenconnection.com website, I have just added some of my more favorite quotes. It is set up so that everytime the page loads a new quote is shown. When I look at the page source after it is loaded you cant tell that it is a php include. Does this help my page rank by making it look like the information has changed?

From what I have seen, people use javascript to do it. I would check out hotscripts for the actual script.

HA! Got it! I remembered that I have Logmein on one of my computers, so I just logged into that one, and did my thing from my home computer. (Ill keep you updated as to when we have a new addition as well.)

So, I am at the hospital where my wife is in labor. We are kinda in a "hurry up and wait" mode right now, so I am trying to work on one of my sites. It appears as thought the hospital has all of the ports block. I cant FTP, get into CPanel, or WHM. Now, I understand priorities, and Ill be there to feed her Ice chips when the time comes but this is killing me. Right now, My mother inlaw and wife are watching Fred Astaire (we are inducing so we could be here a while). Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might upload a css sheet to a site and avoid using any blocked ports? (ive tried IE, but no luck).
