I just got contacted by the wall street journal for an interview about a website that i put up for my brother. I have mentioned it here before but it is ToddNeedsaDate.com. They are doing an article on social networking and online dating. After seeing the site they wanted to talk about it. While I dont think that the site has too much interesting to write about, its fun that it got the WSJs attention. Just thought you might find it interesting.

I set up qumana in just a few seconds. It seemed to know what I was using as a plat form, and was very easy to use. No extensive experience, but I seem to like programs that dont make me want to jump out of a window while I am setting them up.

I made a quick sample page on one of my sites.

I found a fun little button creator. No install needed, I just run it off of my usb drive. http://www.cylog.org/graphics_2.asp Sometimes I want to quickly put something up and dont want to mess with CSS. You can create a list of buttons, save them, then make a minor adjustment and save them again with a prefix or a suffix. (I love these little utilities that are free and dont need to be instaled). I thought I would pass on the find. I also like the Folder Icons utility that it has.

I dont know if this is the right place to put this, but there is a blog that I love to read. Its articles are always... interesting Damninteresting.com There is a huge range in topics. All of which are written well. Its given me something good to read and I am sure it will do the same for you. (iam not associated with them at all BTW)

While not a server-side program I do like MWSnap. I can run it off of my usb drive and and it has a function to pick colors off of the website. I have it save screenshots of pages that I like, so that I can have inspiration when creating a new webpage. The only thing I wish it had was a way to save the whole page and not just the part that is in the window. Otherwise, it is very handy.

I have notice something that makes it helpful to have a sub domain set up as opposed to the other. When I am thinking about doing my site over, I will usually put it up on the web so that I can see it live. If I use a sub domain, my relative paths will work. If I don’t set up a sub domain they wont. it will look at it from the root of the site and not the root of the folder. (I dont know if that makes any sense. I aint too good at that whole writing thing. Perhaps we could get Abinidi here to explain what I am trying to write)

Are you by any chance using a proxy server? I have some of my computers set up to use a severside internet filtering company. As a result, I can only use one port, the http port (something like 80). That makes it so that I cannot access cpanel. You might check into that. in internet explorer you would go to Tools- Internet Options- Connections- Lan Settings You might also try using a different browser.

Interestingly enough, that programs showed aboutme.com available as well. I would imagine it is a problem connecting to the registry like justrob said. Cool site though.

I found this program, and thought back to this thread. It is a program where you can import rss feeds into your pda. It looks to be brought to you by the same guy that has the GDrive extension for gmail.
