People with Windows can use Windows Explorer as an FTP client. Simple and cheap, but effective. (Assuming you've created an FTP account named account@domain.com with password password) Open a new Windows Explorer window and type ftp://ftp.domain.com into the location bar. Go File > Login As and enter the login info: User: account@domain.com Pass: password Drag files into that folder!

Wow!! How are they affording this? I mean, the 1 GB space... I suppose disk space these days is cheap, so they can afford to do that... but eliminating ads means their only source of revenue is gone... and pop3/smtp access isn't free either.... Google rocks

That was weird... Woke up this morning to a bright and sunny outside. Apparently, my alarm clock adjusts itself to DST. It's even weirder because I'm from Arizona, and Arizona doesn't do DST (we have our own time zone because of it... check your Windows' time and date control panel!)

Depends on the host though Some hosts use different nameservers for every server. In that case, if you switched servers on your host, you'd have to switch dns info, which would mean you'd have to wait for propogation. (My old host was that way... and soooo many server problems... so they switched us like every month)

My old webhost gave 20 MB space for every person we referred who signed up. However, that made me refer people just for the space, not because I particularly recommended the service (especially after things went downhill) I think TCH should be recommended because people love it, not because they want some reward for doing so. Of course, the flip side is rewarding referrals would result in more active recruiting (I actually got friends who weren't even thinking about getting webhosting to sign up just so I could get my 20 MB).

Seconded I havn't used any extensively (I don't do ecommerce), but I've installed both scripts and tried them. osCommerce is easier to pick up and just use.

Mid-semester grades were posted for CMU today. I was able to pull 4 As and 2 Bs (in Physics and Concepts of Math)!!! I'm so excited... I was expecting a C in concepts. B was a pleasant surprise. My dad actually told me that he's proud of me over the phone today. He's never said that before... not even on the 6 (out of 6... I graduated in 3 years) high school report cards that I got straight As on. Yay!!!

Be sure to name your files with a .php extention You can actually name all your files .php if you want. Any HTML in there (provided it's outside the <? and ?> tags) will render normally, and you can insert php code whenever you want easily! But if you want static pages with common headers/footers, I would recommend shtml over php.
