  1. Head Guru will have to respond as to availability of these servers under this sale, but as for the rest... It's a dedicated server which means you can do anything you want as long as it still complies with TCH's TOS and AUP. That means unlimited domains, unlimited databases per domain, you can upload whatever you need. The servers are preinstalled for you with cPanel (including WebHost Manager) so you can do everything that cPanel allows (including limit bandwidth, diskspace, email space, etc... based on usage per month) or you can install other software.
  2. When you are looking at the list of subjects in a forum (not when you are reading a thread).... there's an icon next to the subject of threads that have messages you haven't read yet. That icon is the arrow (click on it instead of the subject).
  3. We're a community that likes to look out for each other. Welcome to the family, Lisa!
  4. Parrotletmommy, phpAuction was being considered as part of a package of things but has since been decided against for now due to various reasons. So for now, there are no plans to add it as a one-click option, but you can still install it on your own.
  5. Also, when you create a database there are three steps (some people forget the third). Create the database Create the user Add the user to the database
  6. Alan is mostly right. A semi-dedicated server is exactly the same as a reseller server except that no more than 4 users are on it. TCH can help you move your sites over. The server is fully managed. No, you do not get root access. It's still a shared server, it is not a VPS (virtual private server).
  7. The address of the server should be "localhost".
  8. Congratulations, Robert! Thumbs Up Now what are you doing reading the forums.... aren't there some support tickets with your name on them???
  9. Anyone who's dealt with domain names extensively in the 90's will know why them having a monopoly is a bad idea.
  10. Excuse me while I don't feel your pain while you're saying this in 90 degree weather and I see snowflakes. Current conditions: Light Snow: 35°F (02°C)
  11. Thanks again all. VI, I'm currently a global moderator, which means no specific forums.
  12. Topics merged since this was the same question posted in 2 places.
  13. Yea, I've looked around and the short answer is no on the crontabs. This is something I may even consider messin' with in my spare time to write something better (read: may be a long while )... the cPanel crontab editor isn't the best. It has a bug where if your crontab entry has quotes in it, it will lose the quotes when it reads it back in for editing (so if you modify the crontab at all, you'll lose everything after the first quote for that line). So avoid quotes in your crontab entries.
  14. In the event someone doesn't come along and answer your question here... I'm hoping to put together a little tweaking spamassassin tutorial/help page soon. I'm planning on tweaking my own (since I get 200+ spams per day of which a good dozen or so still make it through) and will document what needs to be done. It just may take a couple weeks before I have anything substantial, but I'll post it up or make sure it makes it to the help pages when it's done. Stay tuned.... :Nerd:
  15. Only one of the staff can look at your account (not the forum mods who are the more regular eyes on the forums). Using the support ticket system guarantees a quicker turn around to getting a staff person looking at your issue. It also is the way you can identify your existing account info to them securely. I believe TCH changed billing systems recently, and that may be why you aren't being identified by the automatic signup.
  16. Send in a support ticket, and they will get you setup.
  17. Moving this thread for better organization.
  18. I still use a text editor, but I recently bought Dreamweaver and am trying to learn it. One thing I've liked so far about Dreamweaver is it seems to write pretty clean HTML.
  19. They will need to be defined to what TCH sent you in your welcome message. All virtual hosting accounts use: ns1.totalchoicehosting.com ns2.totalchoicehosting.com If you defined them as above, you are good to go. Those are the name servers that get updated when you add subdomains, make changes, etc...
  20. You can use "Index Manager" in your cPanel to manage this per directory. If you want to disable indexes for your entire site (since cPanel won't let you do it directly for your root web directory) put the following into your .htaccess file in your public_html directory: >Options All -Indexes
  21. I'll see if I can break it down into a brief but clear description (some of this you probably already know, but it might be helpful to someone to describe the whole thing)... All computers on the internet have an IP address that is used just like a street address on your house. It's how computer A knows how to reach Computer B. But the IP addresses are hard for humans to remember. So we have the domain name system. You register a domain name so that it becomes yours to control. So when someone wants to connect to you, they can use the names you create within your domain. However, in order to translate the human friendly names you define to computer friendly addresses, the computer has to do a lookup through the domain name system (DNS). DNS needs a way to make sure the addresses it's translating are correct, so this is why you define certain nameservers to be authoritive. This means that only the nameservers you set in your domain are allowed to define the names and corresponding addresses for your domains, so any DNS server that doesn't have your host names cached will query your authoritive nameservers for that information. And that's the simplistic description of the domain name system. :Nerd:
  22. I'm just jokin' with ya, Thomas. Just laugh it UP.
