Yeah, kubuntu can manage a wide range of drivers etc - and I'd agree a better solution for the linux user ( and pretty good for the linux beginner to). I was just impressed by PClinuxOS 2007 for a new linux user - moving from windows ... who wanted all the windows 'features' such as playing flash, MP3, wmv files straight out of the box.

As folk have already said, try a LiveCD .... they are a bit slow - but give you a reasonable idea ... and don't touch your hard disk, so nothing to worry about in testing - just reboot back into windows when done. They come with all the browser, email, Internet 'Wizard', OpenOffice and lots of other things included.

Whilst I'm a fan ( and use ) Ubuntu / kubuntu ..... I had a play with PClinuxOS 2007 recently ( to look at for windows users) http://www.pclinuxos.com/ and was impressed with it for windows users migrating. Has all the 'windows' type plugins already there ... found laptop wifi etc easily on boot That sets up everything you need ( browsers, connections etc) straight out of the box .... not to tricky for a windows user to use. Again free ( of course, as it's linux) and a 1 CD download. You can run it as a live CD to play with and try.

If you want to check it yourself, I would check that for the main directory you have no password protection set, and that you have the permissions of the public_html directory 750 and the index.html set to 744

With a large number of servers in the DC, it looks a very different place, and you can't take the same sort of pictures - now you can't see far, because there is usually a rack of servers in the way blocking the view .... I'll see if we can find you some more recent photos, and provide an update.

1) On the managed versus unmanaged FAQ page there is a line for only managed that says: Secure Server with Firewall. What does that mean exactly? Are unmanaged servers not behind a firewall? Both managed and unmanaged have the same firewall / disk space / eystems etc. in them 2) Dedicated servers use the WHM like reseller accounts, right? So multiple domain names can be managed and allocated resources, right? Correct 3) As stated in the differences FAQ, only in the fully managed package are services restarted when needed. For the unmanged, how are these services restarted? Through cPanel? Or is there shell access for the admin? On a dedicated server you can do it either via SSH on whm, you have access to both. 4) Hard drive space states: 160GB x 2. Is this a RAID 1 setup for backup redundancy? Or RAID 0 setup for speed and actually 320GB of space? You could set it up as RAID. Our default setup for dedicated servers is two separate disks with one acting as a backup - but open a ticket with your requirements.

Hi Dave, If you make the DNS change, so that it goes to homestead, then your hosting will be at homestead ( not with us). If you want to have a mix at both places, then the best thing to do is have a redirect, as you do now.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forums Basically they are asking that you have the DNS ( The thing that tells a browser where your website is ) edited to point part of it at homestead. IF you open a ticket at the help desk, we'll do it all for you. You won't lose your email, we'll just change the info for browsers, leaving your email here.

Hi Valerie, You can take a complete backup of the database from cpanel ( structure and content) in the backups section. Are you trying to get just a complete copy of the same database ( just on a different name) ? Or just upload some of the tables ?
