Thanks guys but that's not what I need - sorry, I forgot to mention one important point. I did search TCH forums but I didn't find anything about what I need. I need to install AWStats on a client's site that doesn't have cPanel. I'm counting on bringing them over to TCH when their current hosting contract ends but one of the things I need to do is install AWStats so I can show them the real (or as close as possible) number of visits to the website and some other statistics, so they finally see their host simply sucks! Anyway, If someone has some links or know how to do it, I'd really appreciate it!

Has anyone installed AWStats manually on a shared server? I'm trying to install it on a client's website but I'm not being successful. Can anyone tell me where to find a step-by-step guide, or something like that? AWStats documentation is not enough, their installation guide is quite incomplete and mostly geared towards those who have root access on the server, unfortunately Thanks in advance.

Seriously, why is everyone saying now that windows source code is available on the web, everyone will be hacked, no computer running windows is secure anymore, etc, etc? *BSD and Linux source code have been available since the beginning and it was not a problea - actually, that's what took these OSs so far, as you probably know. Yes, security holes are found everyday but patches are released right after. MS has a well known history of knowing about security holes in Windows and doing nothing about it for months. Perhaps this time they will be forced to do something right.

Thomas, I opened your animated GIF with The Gimp (Linux's Photoshop) and saved it again, making sure that the "loop forever" option was checked. Have you checked that when you created the animated GIF? It works on my computer, now.

Well, I don't use IMAP, so I can't help you with that. Sorry But I do have a question for you guys: why do you use IMAP instead of POP3? I'm asking this because I never used IMAP and from what I know, the major (only?) difference (excluding the differences in the protocol, of course) is that while with POP3 you always download e-mails to your local system, with IMAP the e-mails are mostly kept on the server, being downloaded only if you want to. That means all the operations you do, you do them directly on the server. Like if you were using SquirrelMail or another wbmail package. Am I right? Are there any more differences? What motivates you to use IMAP instead of POP3?

Sorry Glenn, I'm not a C4d user. I've played a bit with it a long time ago but nothing takes Maya away from me I suppose you have already searched Google for some Cinema 4D tutorials? By the way, it seems that Alias (makers of Maya) is getting bought by another big company... let's just hope these new guys can maintain Alias on the top, just like SGI has done all these years.

Jimmy, were you using your e-mail client or one of the webmail packages on the server? If you were using webmail, the attachments' size is limited by the maximum file size allowed to upload.

Alan, my dad has been using thunderbird for a week and he's loving it. My sister has been using it for about 4 months and she likes it too. I'm using evolution too and I've been thinking about switching to thunderbird but I like it's news aggregation thingy. Do you know about a nice news aggregator that I could use, so I can drop evolution?

Oh darn, I knew I had seen that "amfphp" name somewhere but I didn't know what it was. If I had known what it was in the first place, I could have helped you earlier. My first troubleshooting question is: have you made amfphp's directory a part of PHP's include_path?

For those of you who might be interested, the Mozilla project has just released the new version of their upcoming browser and e-mail client. While Thunderbird retains it's name and gets it's version upgraded to 0.5, Firebird sees it's 0.8 release and changes it's name to Firefox. If you've been following the latest Firebird builds, you won't see much difference. Get them at the Mozilla project website One thing to note if you're using a previsou Phoenix/Firebird version is that you should disable all the extensions before using Firefox. Kaula, you don't add fonts to Photoshop, you add fonts wo Windows itself If I still recall my Windows days, you just need to place the font files in C:\Windows\Fonts\

Arvind, you seem to have a problem with the database username and password. Check to see if you have created that used with the correct permissions on MySQL manager and that you're using the correct password when setting up the calendar.

I only used MX, not MX 2004 but I can tell you that the difference from version 4 (of both Flash and Dreamweaver) is amazing. I know that DW MX 2004 is very directed to standards compatibility, which, in my humble opinion, is of great value. So if you're using version 4, I'd say yes, it's worth the upgrade!

What you require is the possibility of running PHP scripts by issuing a shell command - you can do that with a cron job. Just set the cron command to something like "php -q /home/your_username/public_html/path_to_web_calendar/send_reminders.php"

Hi Mitch. Unfortunately, cPanel has no way of deleting multiple files at once - unless you delete a whole directory. You'll have to use an FTP client for that. I can't think of another way for you to accomplish what you want.

I never used it but are you sure it works on a Linux server? EDIT: Well, it does work but you need an ASP- or JSP-enabled server, which you don't have here at TCH: Flash Remoting MX System Requirements

Blue, the JavaScript pop-up menu can be bypassed easily, too. Just like you'd do to bypass the "no right-click" script, you only need to disable JavaScript on your browser and bang! All the protection is gone and you can right-click to your heart's desires
