Mike, what perl skills? Never knew how to program in perl in the first place. Not sure why but I have always looked at perl as a strange and heavy "thing". Heavy in the sense that it's heavy for the webserver. I guess I should try to learn it, though...

Your browser doesnt resize the page for you? Not having any issues here! Bill, my browser does resize the images for me - if I set that option Lots of other people don't activate that option either and some browsers don't even have such an option at all. Besides, even having the resize option activated, the browser still has to download the whole file to be able to display the resized image, so those huge images will still take 3 and a half eternities to load (sometimes more, depending on how loaded the server is ) and will still eat up unnecessary bandwidth. I find it annoying but if it's not an issue to anyone, then by all means, keep posting the images as you like

I don't want to sound rude but I just don't get it: what's with the 1600x1200 (some even bigger) pics? I'm on cable and the first page of this thread took three and a half eternities to load! Com'on guys, you know you don't need to post images that big, you could resize them to a more friendly resolution, say 640x480 or even 800x600. People can see the picture just as well - perhaps even better, because, for example, on my 1024x768 monitor, viewing a 2048x1536px image is *not* nice... Mad!!!

Slax looks really nice, too! And it fits in an 8cm CD-ROM! It's *really* fast, compared to all the other LiveCD distros I've seen. Too bad it doesn't go directly to a graphical interface - it would be good to demonstrate Linux to people that are affraid of consoles - but some people like it that way (sometimes even myself). Now if only they'd make two versions... keep the current one (hey, having a full operating system with all the bells and whistles in an 8 cm CD looks pretty darn cool if you're going to demonstrate it to someone! ) and make a second version, with more programs, like OpenOffice and some other stuff... The code is probably old. It was code used by a Microsoft partner to port Windows apps to Unix. So yes, most of it's problems are already solved, I guess

I've read the description of how it was found and it was indeed quite simple for a trained eye to catch it (I won't say I've read the source code, because MS would come after me, so... Thomas, perhaps ACDSee has some option for looping animated gifs forever, even though they're supposed to play just once...

The only thing I can think of is that the proxy on your network is blocking the forums URL...
