Alan, actually, Mandrake 10.0 is already out If you're a Mandrake user, I'll take the chance to ask you: did you ever have any problems with RPMs and installing programs because of the location of some files? If I get an RPM built for Fedora Core, will it work on MDK? I liked Mandrake Move *a lot* and although I love Red Hat/Fedora Core, I'm thinking about trying MDK 10.0. FC1 already has some nice system configuration tools but MDK seems to be even better and although I know how to do most of what I need via command line, I'm lazy and I like a nice graphical tool that does the job for me Oh, one more thing, I know KDE has always been the prefered desktop for Mandrake but I like Gnome better. How is MDK's Gnome-KDE interaction?

What OS are you using, Rob? BSD? Perhaps it's some issue Firefox and the BSD you're using? Also, are you using the 0.8 release or a nightly build? If you're using a nightly build, try getting the 0.8 release version. Anyway, if you have some programs that do what you need, forget about it "If it's not broken, don't fix it!"

It depends, it can take only a few hours or it can take a day or two. In your welcome e-mail, you should have instructions on how to access your cPanel while the domain DNS changes have not propagated: point your browser to http://<your server IP address>/cpanel/ and login as you would normally do. Rob, that should be more than OK. My dad's previous notebook (an AMD K6-2 @ 400 MHz with 192 MB of RAM) handled Firefox and Thunderbird nicely... Perhaps you have another problem?

You should try some Linux distros. Get Mandrake Linux and Fedora Core (ex-Red Hat) and try them. It's the only way you'll know if they fit tour needs. I'm using Linux exclusively for quite some time and I'm really happy with it. No more bluescreens, no more reboots just because I changed some system setting, no more programs crashing (well, the majority of them, anyway )... Curtis, I can't believe I let this post slip through without an answer! Unfortunately, I don't know Xandros but from everything I've read, it looks a nice Desktop OS. But I think I'd still go for Fedora Core (ex-Red Hat) or Mandrake, though.

OK, it seems that you were right after all. My apologies. This was indeed a problem in Zend Optimizer but it has been fixed. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...?showtopic=8516 Still, keep in mind that Zend Optimizer should not interfere with any script unless, of course, there's something wrong with it. So this means you don't need to worry about it being installed. In fact, it's good, because it accelerates the PHP engine

Mike, on question no. 2, I believe John was asking if he could teach Spam Assassin. You can configure Spam Assassim to some extent but I don't think it has any "learning" capabilities, like Mozilla Thunderbird and other mail clients. And as Mike said, Spam Assassin acts on your mail once it arrives at the server, which means you'll see the suspect message marked as possible spam whether you use webmail or a mail client on your computer.

jsull, Zend Optimizer shouldn't interfere with phpBB in any way. I find that very strange. Can you point me to the page where you've read that, please? I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that the two of them are perfectly compatible. Zend Optimizer was made to work with PHP, to accelerate it, it wouldn't make much sense if it'd break scripts just like that.

Xantee, cpanel should be able to handle that file without any problems (assuming it's not corrupted). The only thing I see that may be causing a problem is the .tgz extension - .tar.gz is more usual in the Unix world, so maybe cpanel has some kind of problem with .tgz. Try renaming your file to a .tar.gz extension and see if it helps. By the way, I moved your post to the CPanel and Site Maintenance forum for better organization

I second the request for the bluelagoon theme - or at least a theme with lists of functionalities instead of icons. I know it's not very likely, since cPanel is dropping support for bluelagoon but, to be honest, it's the only theme I like because of the functionalities list instead of using icons

Mike, what's the configuration of your network? Are you connecting to the internet through a router? If so, have you checked if you can reach it from your main computer (try pinging it's IP address)?

Well, those were my initial thoughts, too (about the M/B voltage). About the RAM, it can't be Linux/application specific because I've seen it on both Windows and Linux. I must confess, though, that I never worried enough about this to even check how much memory my system recognizes at startup... No, this is a single CPU mobo ( I wish I had a double CPU one ), only one CPU here. As for the memory, it's not shared with video, my trusty old Asus V3800 with it's Riva TNT2 has it's own 32 MB of V-RAM - yes, it's really old and because of that I can't run many modern games but as I said in another thread, I prefer playable and fun games than games that require a $500 graphics card to play

I moved this to the Scripting Talk forum for better exposure. As for your problem, I've never used server side includes but I don't think there's any restrictions on how many files you can include. Have you tried putting articles.txt above menubar.txt and see if it works? If so, then perhaps it's something on menubar.txt that is preventing articles.txt from loading.
