  1. I prefer phpBB, partially because of it being under the GPL, and it being simpler to me. Being a regular user is well refined under phpBB in my opinion, the admin interface is a bit clumsy in some (ok, many) respects but you get used to it.
  2. *patents Water* Ha. Now you can't survive without paying me.
  3. I am using Firefox v. 0.8 and 3.0D of Movable Type.
  4. Well, the little window to rebuild would come up in Firefox, but it wouldn't finish the process. I just allowed popups from my site and the rebuilding goes fine. Thanks again!
  5. The only popup blocker that would be running is the one built into Firefox. I'll have to try IE. I tried to rebuild with Norton Internet Security both on and off. --Edit-- You were right! It works in IE with no popup blocker. I'll have to fiddle with settings then. Thanks!
  6. Lately I've been having trouble getting my MT site to rebuild. I just upgraded to 3.0D, and rebuilding worked just fine for a few days from my machine. Now, I click the rebuild link, the little window comes up and I click start. Then it just sits on "Rebuilding Individual Pages ..." I was however able to rebuild the site from School this morning, but can't right now. I'm stumped.
  7. Game 3 has been stressful so far. Nothing but back and forth scoring in the second.
  8. No. The Wings are way cooler. Anywho, how'd you like that 5-1 win today HG?
  9. I've never seen much of a reason to stick with FAT.
  10. I'm seeing a couple of pretty scary eyes up top... I think I'm seeing headers just fine.
  11. Could they be using some sort of firewall? I've had trouble with McAfee Personal Firewall stripping away certain headers. I have figured out what algorithm it uses to decide which ones to strip nor how to disable this feature. I had a problem with that too. Norton Internet Security was blocking banner ads and thought my page banner was one. There doesn't seem to be a page at the URL you are talking about...
  12. If it booted on the Windows 2000 machine, it's bootable. I don't know how you would fix it, but some computers just don't like to boot off stuff. I had that problem trying to install CollegeLinux on an old machine of mine.
  13. Sounds kinda like people are having DNS issues rather than your page working. I can see it just fine in FireFox on the mac here. That white space shouldn't do anything, they browser just ignores it anyway.
  14. I recently sent a question into iPowerWeb's tech support (the company that hosts my HS Band's page). My Question: Tech supports kind (and quick) response: Huh?
  15. Doesn't Google offer a free search engine? I've never tried it myself, but i've used it on other people's websites with good success.
  16. I really like the simplicity for the normal user PHPBB provides though. Invision is incredibly powerful, and offers lots of options, but I still get slightly confused as to where I am sometimes navigating a large board.
  17. I've had people downright lie to me to try to make a sale. A couple of weeks ago I went to CompUSA to check prices on the memory I wanted to add to my computer. I went to the area where they keep memory, and the man there asked me what kind I was looking for. I told him, and he brought it out on the counter for me. He told me the price ($120 for 2x128MB sticks) and gave me some line about them being the only place that carries it around here and probably the best price too. I'd seen the same set-up a week ago for $70 online. This CompUSA employee wanted to take advantage of someone he thought did not know enough about computers to know he was lying. I just said "no thanks" and left the store.
  18. AH HA! I had edited the *new* mt.cfg file, but it was still looking at the old. I have the problem resolved now. Thanks for the input!
  19. I would just buy a second harddrive for your computer and put Linux in it. That way you can just switch the boot order in BIOS when you want to switch OS's. Plus you don't have to worry about file system issues.
  20. I did that, but <$MTCGIPath$> is not reset if you simply rebuild. It is only set during initial load.
  21. For some reason, that doesn't work for me some times. I would recommend changing them through a FTP program.
  22. I did get the weblog up and running. I got all of my site's pages into movable type's templates, and the site is working great. I moved the movable type files to the main public_html directory so it would go to the Movable type page right away as the home page. But now, <$MTCGIPath$> (which controls where functions like "search" look for their scripts) is still set to the old directory. Is there any way to change this? I looked up the function on MT's website, and it is set during initial load. I thought of running mt-load.cgi again, but I don't know what it will do to my entries and template set ups.
  23. Do you still live in Michigan? <not so coolness>I'm not old enough to have been part of the cruising, but I have driven our minivan down Woodward a few times... </not so coolness>
  24. Me too. There are several people on the Red vs Blue forums that have tried nuking $20s with no explosions. Who would put $1000 in $20s in the microwave anyway?
  25. I love you. :heart :heart :heart :heart
