I'm working through this right now, and I'll post more instructions about it later (once I've got it working), but I thought I'd give an update on what I've found: The instructions on the /wp-admin/import-blogger.php page (in the wordpress zip file) are incomplete. What I *think* you have to do is this: Go to the following page: http://www.skeltoac.com/import-blogger.php.txt Copy and paste the text from that page into a text file. save the file as import-blogger.php Upload the file to /wp-admin/ in your blog directory now run http/yoursite/blogdirectory/wp-admin/import-blogger.php The correct instructions will now be included, and comments will be imported. I will verify if this works, and will post to the forums (probably tomorrow, because Blogger is down right now, so I can't re-export my file).

When I look at the files exported by blogger, there are no comments (which is why wordpress can't find them...) So I've localized the problem to blogger. I'm not doing something right so that the comments will get exported. Any suggestions?? (Dang... Blogger has a scheduled down time at 16:00 PT today. Just my luck!! )

I decided to give WordPress a try, and I followed the TCH instructions to install it (working fine), and I followed the following instructions to migrate my blogger.com content into my new WP blog. The entries (over 100) all imported fine, but for some reason, I didn't get ANY comments. Does anybody have a suggestion about what I did wrong? Can I reimport the content without causing duplicate entries, or do I need to clear the database first? Thanks, Paul

Hi TubeHead, Welcome to the forums. I think why BillH was confused is because at the beginning of your post you talk about trying to get through to the TCH chat and email systems. Like BillH said, the questions you have aren't really questions for the web hosting company to answer, but are questions for site deisgners to answer. Can you install software on a TCH server that will do what you are asking for? Yes. Does TCH provide that software? No. But what TCH does provide are these family forums that let you ask your specific questions, and people (mostly volunteer/happy customer -types) who have time will try to help you debug your system, although naturally we will lend more of a hand to people who are part of the TCH family of happy customers. Is TCH a fantastic host? Yes. I highly recommend that you host here. When you pay for web hosting, you are paying for the space on the computer hardware that hosts your account. The web-hosting providers aren't obligated to help you solve your website-specific design problems. That's not what you are paying for. I mean, TCH is a fantastic deal for web hosting. You can't expect web hosting plus website design for as little as US$4.00 per month!! When you ask a question to the free forums, remember, you may only get what you pay for (but we'll try to make it worth more than that!)!! Best of luck. I hope you choose TCH!

Ok, so today I decided to install WordPress, and as I was looking for plugins, I came across the following page. I'm guessing that your site isn't really "mysite.com", but that you used "mysite.com" as a place holder for your site name. Feel free to post your real site name to the forum, and we will see what happens when we view it. And, BTW, welcome to TCH and to the TCH Family Forums!! You made a good choice in coming to TCH!!

Is it sufficient to only uncheck the "allow web sites to install software" button, or do I really need to disable Java Script when I surf the web? My work uses Java Script all over in our products, so I have no choice but to leve JS on when I'm using a work application.

It's probably a daylight savings time issue. I don't think that script is able to handle DST. So during the months that some of us go on DST (our friends in Arizona among those exlcuded), you have to change the timezone for your script. That's how I remember it at least...

Agreed. TCH support is awesome! I'm a bit suprized at the forum choice; maybe this comment fits better in the Reviews of TCH area. I can see why it's confusing though: The forum subtitle says "The official web hosting rants, raves, discussions and announcements from the Head Guru himself"; If you didn't know that Bill is "Head Guru" you might not realize the purpose of that forum...

So the easy answer is have your entry/splash page be titled index.html, and leave your storefront page as index.php. When customers hit the directory (without a page), then they will get the splash page. When your store code wants to go back to the storefront, it will go to index.php. Cool.
