  1. Wouldn't that be great! I would love an opensource alternative to Photoshop and Dreamweaver!!
  2. Oh. Uninstalling Firefox doesn't remove your Firefox profile. So, I did as you suggested, and I removed my Firefox profile, and now it works. I'll include the steps in case it helps somebody else down the line. Windows XP Note: Before completeing these steps, you must uninstall Firefox using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. 1. Open My Computer 2. Open the drive where your programs are installed (usually c:\) 3. Open Documents and settings 4. Open the folder corresponding to your Windows username 5. Go up to the address bar (if it isn't showing, go to step 5a; if it is showing, go to step 6) 5a. To make the address bar visible, clicke the View Menu, then select Toolbars | Address Bar. 6. In your address bar you should see something similar to the following: C:\Documents and Settings\loginName Add the following to the address: \Application Data then press Enter. For example, if your login name is Paul, you will see the following in the address bar: C:\Documents and Settings\Paul Simply append \Application Data to the address to get: C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Application Data The press Enter. 7. Open the Mozilla folder 8. Delete the Firefox folder You are now ready to reinstall Firefox. Best of luck. And thanks, Bruce for your help.
  3. What do you mean by "remove my profile"? My Windows profile? B/c I work in an office environment, and I"m not totally sure I know how to do that on our network, nor am I sure I'm ALLOWED to do it... If that is what you meant, I guess I'll have to call over the IT guy... and take the flack for having non-standard software installed.
  4. Well, currently your google account is used for Google Groups (groups.google.com). I wouldn't be too suprized if Google created a web portal (like my.yahoo.com), etc. But currently you use your gmail login to access groups, and translation projects (if you are a part of that).
  5. I broke Firefox. It opens, but it won't load my bookmarks, and and I can't do anything. I just see a blank screen (my homepage doesn't show). I upgraded to 1.0.3 this morning, then I logged back in and upgraded 3 extensions. I tried uninstalling Firefox, then reinstalling the 1.0.3 release, but it is still doing the same thing, so it must be the extensions I updated. How do I uninstall extensions if I can't get Firefox itself to work? Anybody that can help?? Here is the relevant portion of the install.log file (if it helps): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firef...=win&lang=en-US -- 2005-04-18 10:04:24 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- firefox (version 1.0.3) ------- [1/3] Installing: C:\Documents and Settings\ppehrson\Desktop\Firefox Setup 1.0.3.exe [2/3] Executing: C:\DOCUME~1\PPEHRSON\LOCALS~1\TEMP\xpinstall.exe [3/3] Deleting file: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xpicleanup.exe Install completed successfully -- 2005-04-18 10:04:26 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ext...er-0.9.3-fx.xpi -- 2005-04-18 10:06:48 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Install completed successfully -- 2005-04-18 10:06:50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ext...0.6.5-fx+mz.xpi -- 2005-04-18 10:06:50 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Install completed successfully -- 2005-04-18 10:06:51 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/themes/doodle classic/doodle_classic-1.5.9.4-fx.jar -- 2005-04-18 10:06:51 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Install completed successfully -- 2005-04-18 10:06:52

  7. Welcome Staci! I've only had great encounters with the billing people, so you have a great tem to work with! Good luck in your new job!!
  8. You can open a help desk ticket (there is a link at the top of this page) to billing, and they can send you out a new link in order to bill your account. You may want to check with them, though, because you might have automatic renewal. If not, they can help you get ready to go.
  9. Links on Adobe.com and Macromedia.com both point to the following location: smilie http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelatio...macromedia.html Do you think the FTC will allow the merger? Adobe will have like a 90% market share (or higher) in the graphics and illustration market. What do you think this means for the various product lines involved?? Do you think Adobe will keep Freehand and Fireworks? Or will they integrate them into Illustrator and Photoshop? Adobe Dreamweaver? I never thought that the day would come...

  11. Or an extension of the domain name for the prorated amount. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, some people might want to change domain extensions if they aren't allowed to keep their information private; so maybe what GoDaddy should offer is a credit for the pro-rated amount that could be used on any domain registration in your account.
  12. You can always transfer your domain. Switch to a registrar that will give you the level of customer service you want. I don't want to violate forum rules by recommending a specific registrar on-list, but if you contact me off-list, I'd be happy to tell you about my registrar, with whom I am very happy (and have nothing other than a business relationship with).

  14. I would add to this conversation a little comment about POP3 access with TCH. It sounds like at your old host you had to configure the account manually on the back end in order for it to function with POP3. With TCH, when you create a webmail account, that account is enabled for POP3 automatically without you having to do anything else on the back end. You can just configure your POP client (remember that your username is username+yourDomain.ext -- ie if your mailbox is Admin and your domain is domain.net, then your username is Admin+domain.net; and your server would be mail.domain.net). That's all there is too it. Hope you enjoy TCH. It's by far the best hosting company I've ever hear of!!
  15. Que bom gente! Eu morei no Brasil de 1997 até 1999 em São Paulo. Foi muito legal!! Amo o Brasil! Sinto muitos saudades. Agora moro em Utah, EUA. ([More or less] How cool! I lived in Brazil from 1997-1999 in São Paulo. It was really cool. I love Brazil, and miss it. Now I live in Utah, USA. We are one big world family!!

  17. Here is a question: Let's say I have a user named "x", and x wants an email account on my website, "domain.com". x wants all mail sent to x@domain.com to do two things: 1. show up in the x@domain.com mailbox accessible through domain.com's cpanel, and 2. be forwarded to x@somewhereelse.com If I create an email account for x in cpanel, can I also create a forwarder for x so the messages will be automatically forwarded as well? If that won't work, what happens if I do have both an email account for x (x@domain.com) and a forwarder for email arriving at x@domain.com pointing elsewhere? What happens?
  18. Thanks Don! That is a great tool!!!
  19. Luke, Welcome to the forums. I hope that you will choose TCH. I have been with three other hosting companies, and when I found TCH, I couldn't believe what services I got for the price I paid! What a value! All else aside (and there is a lot of other benefits) the support TCH provides places them (in my opinion) in the top 1% of all companies in the world (in all industries). Every interaction with TCH has been top notch for me. Every probolem has been resolved quickly, professionally, and efficiently. You just won't find that elsewhere. I know a lot of people who have looked.

  21. If you are in the market for your first GPS, let me HIGHLY recommend the Garmin eTrex Legend. http://tinyurl.com/6ouyz It has (in my opinion) the best feature set for the price; You'll be really glad that it is pre-loaded with basemaps. It's only a little bit more than other GPS units, but the basemap feature is really cool, and 8MB of memory is perfect for the beginning geocacher. Geocaching is a fantastic family activity! I highly recommend it!! -Paul

  25. Done. I gave as glowing a review as I could. And I meant every word. Actually, I submitted a seperate rating for all 3 different sites I host with TCH. Hope that helps!!
