For you to have a link for your about page to look like that you would need to create a folder in your domain called "about" and place the page in that folder. The name of the page should be "index.php", "index.htm" or "index.html". The problem you seem to be having with the Contact Form script looks like an older version of the script. It used to be located in the wp-admin folder. I downloaded, installed and tested WP Contact Form version 1.2 on my test blog and it works as advertised.

Welcome to the forums Manfred. As David said, PHP runs on the server as user "nobody". Setting everything to 777 and 666 will indeed leave you open to security risks.
