the "temp url" is actually the IP address of the server followed by your username. So the simple answer is yes its permanent. If you wanted to set up some type of forum what i would do is once you have your log in info go into cpanel and create a folder under your public_html folder called forums or something. Then the url for it would be http://123.123.123.123/~username/forum That url will always work, and once you domain name is set up and everything is working going to www.domainname.com/forum will give the same result

you can order your hosting plan and you will be sent all of the log in information as well as a temp url to get started uploading your site. That way you can already have your site up by the time the transfer completes.

There shouldnt be any problems, there isnt a registrar lock on the domain name

In your sites cPanel under the section site Management click on web protect and you can set passwords for any file or directory.

On a standard hosting plan you cant have multiple domains point to different directories. You can "park" unlimited domain names on top of your primary domain but they must all resolve to the main page of your primary domain name. example you have ****, .org, .net, .us you can park the .org, .net and .us domains names on top of the .com domain name and no matter which one you go to you will end up at the .com site.

What happened is the site is probably using a "most recent refferers" scriptr, like the last 10 or something. When you went to the site the first time you went to it from your cpanel, so that made your cpanel one of his most recent refferers and you showed up on the list. Natuarally when you click on the link on his page it logs you into cpanel because it is your cpanel and your computer remembers you. Now, when you changed the password and later went back to his site you were no longer in the "most recent refferer" list so your link was no longer on his page....make sense??

the links you are seeing to your cpanel is from the sites refferer list. They dont actually have your Cpanel name and password, the reason it lets you log in from the link is because you have logged in to your cpanel before and your pc remembers you. If anyone else clicks on the link they get the password prompt.

Take a look at the osCommerce demo and there are links to live shops , this should give you an idea as to what can be done with it. Have you tried reinstalling the FP extensions? I had so many problems with FP that I switched to DreamWeaver.

I went with Norton because it has firewall, antivirus, spam filtering(I use OutLook) and parental controls.

TCH has AgoraCart, Interchange Cart, and osCommerce as a one click installs. I know osCommerce can be ran alone as a web site. As far as an online site builder, I'm not sure what your looking for, but everyone here is always willing to offer a helping hand.

I see no need in spending the extra money on 802.11g for a home network,unless you just want to. If you are going to use your laptop to access public hotspots, the majority of them are 802.11b, but 802.11g is compatibale with 80.11b networks. I would take a look at the Netgear MA401 and look here http://www.linux-wlan.org to get it all going. I just snagged the same deal a couple of a weeks ago, minus the MA521. It's a great router for the price. I already run 4 machines and wanted to add one for my kids but was to lazy to make the cables. Just be sure to enable the Security Encryption and a nice firewall software doesn't hurt. One of the downsides to Netgear routers is that you can't change the user name. LOL I prefer my Ipaq, Mini Stumbler, and a can of pringles. Also this is a great toy WiFi Finder
