  1. Looks good, when you check stats for 404 you will know I looked , LOL have a nice rest.
  2. Just shtml extension if DW will not use that extension, use html and then use cpanel file manager to rename. Note we are talking about just one page here 404.shtml which is the error page for file not found. I did not bother with the other error pages.
  3. Nat, I just used ftp to put the page in the root folder. As to not seeing the .htacces file which is in the root folder, your ftp program may not show hidden files. Mine did not, so I found another. You can see it using cpanel file manager, but I did not change mine, and it works, LOL
  4. You may want to check capitalization like Little_Big_Man.GIF especially the .GIF most people use only lower case to eliminate this problem. look at it in your folder (http://free-diet.biz/_borders/Little_Big_Man.GIF) to be sure it matches your source code. Just upload to public_html www is just a short to public_html You should see the images right away, or press control-F5 to force your browser to reload.
  5. Be sure as Jim mentioned to make it at least 10k, you can make it look like your home page with links too.
  6. Nat, the link I included above is a long but valuable discussion about 404 error pages. There were some very good ideas there contributed by many family members, that helped us to understand and make better error pages. And you will see that you do not have to mess with .htaccess just create, name 404.shtml and put in root folder, but as you will see in the discussions there are more options.
  7. Nat, the robots.txt is a file that search engines look for to see if you do not want them to index a folder, so if you do not have one, it comes up missing. Then if you do not have an error page (404.shtml) that comes up missing. You can create a blank robots.txt file, or add to it if you like. See more about robots.txt in web site promotion And you should have an error page named 404.shtml It can be a simple page saying the page you are looking for does not exist, with a link back to the home page. See All about 404 error pages in Cpanel and Site maintenance

  11. Family helping family is great! In case you haven't noticed, this post is getting a lot of views (as in interest), and what you discover may help others.
  12. You did not show a link, so I will be general. jpg images are the best for photos, and if the graphic program you use to save them will let you adjust the compression or quality, try lower quality or more compression. For me photos are just to show others and NOT to be good enough for them to print, so I compress a 300x225 to around 10k, and they do show a small amount of artifacts, but not enough to bother anyone. For larger images such as 500x??? try to get them down to at least 30k. Although I think that is too large. If your graphic program is not easy to reduce the quality, try *http://www.irfanview.com/ for a free program. Let us know more details, and we will try to be more helpful. And of course Welcome to the Family
