K_M Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 I want to purchase a reseller account with TCH. But I am from India and my site with TCH loads slowly here in India. So, I am asking you other guys from US(and other places worldwide), whether your sites hosted with TCH are fast loading or not. I am happy as there is no downtime, but speed matters too, right? Where are the TCH servers located? Rackshack? Theplanet? Nac? I want to know about it. PS: Give your honest opinion. And feed back, if possible. Thanks to all those who take part in the poll. Quote

Larry Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 ive had my account on tch for over a year now, its never been slow, my pages always load up fast and if I ever have a problem the staff is quick at fixing it not that there are many problems ive only noticed 1 time when my site was not accessable, and it was resolved as fast as I could submit a help desk ticket.. Over all I must say Rock Sign Quote
Shiva Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 PS: Give your honest opinion. And feed back, if possible. I have several sites on several hosts throughout the U.S. and Canada. With those, I am forever propping up this, repairing that and filing Tickets on a weekly basis. Here at TCH, I bought space, got the info I needed and transfered a site from a Host From Hades to TCH. The only time I visit the site is when the client requests some data to be added or a cosmetic change. In short, I've never had a problem here. I have constant problems elsewhere. The price may be a little high, but I've been around hosts a looong time and can assure you - TCH is well worth every penny. I don't know where your TCH server is but as fast as it may be here in North America, the problem may be the time it takes to transfer across the ocean or via sat - which ever course it takes. If you give us your TCH URL it can be tested for you by people from all over. Quote
K_M Posted December 11, 2003 Author Posted December 11, 2003 Ok, I checked several member sites here at TCH(surfing this forum) and all sites load at same speed as my site. So, may be the problem isn't with TCH. May be it's with my location. Yes, I will get a reseller account with TCH. Here is my website. Can anyone test it's speed and post your feedback please! Also post your location. http://www.fentermine.info Rock Sign Quote
Shiva Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Can anyone test it's speed and post your feedback I clocked it at a blazing fast 1.26 seconds from click to load done. Pretty slow eh So, may be the problem isn't with TCH. May be it's with my location. Like I suggested earlier - it's probably the time it takes to get half way around the world to you. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 I didnt clock it but for loading and sending the site to me in sweden it was fast. My eyes goes like this now woooot . As all the sites placed on the Rock Sign . -Thomas Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 I don't know but if the site loaded any faster I wouldn't have been able to tell. It came up almost instantly and I am on a 768k DSL line here at work. Quote
jslagle Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 It's FAST on DSL. @ 3 seconds to load on dialup Thumbs Up Quote
Deverill Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Hi K_M! Welcome to the family! I went to your site on a T1 in Key West, Florida and it was less than one second for the first screenful to come up. Netmechanic.com reports the whole page at 3.9 seconds on a 56K dialup modem. Both are very fast. Hope the info helps. Jim Quote
Shiva Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 BTW If you're having problems today, this just in from telecom.broadband There is a major EU <-> UK problem. A transatlantic cable (TAT-14) carrying 640Gbps of data has failed. The routing's all over the place at the moment but it should sort itself out fairly soon. Fixing the cable may take (a lot) longer but routing should pick up fairly soon. Quote
arvind Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 hehe way 2 fast 1 second ! BTW How nice to see another Indian ! Quote
MikeJ Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 If you reallly want to get an idea of speed, try this little tip: Goto Keynote. Login as demo with the password of demo. Go to Diagnose tab. Enter a URL. Select Instant Measurement. Select an Agent from wherever you want to see the speed. Then select Perform Diagnostic. I just ran one against your site from a Chicago agent and the results: URL http://www.fentermine.info Agent Chicago UUNET DNS Lookup Time * Connection Time 0.04 sec Time To First Byte 0.04 sec Redirection Time * Base Page Download Time 0.1 sec Total Download Time 0.19 sec. Content Error Count No errors Bytes Downloaded 13728 bytes Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 I have a few friends in India and they tell me that the government controls all the Internet access there to keep from having "inapropriate access" whatever they mean by that. They also tell me that this causes some extra latency on sites as they are put through the filters, until those sites are on some directory of government trusted sites. Not sure as to the total validity of this, but I have heard it from more than one person. They all live in the Bangalore area. Quote
arvind Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 That sounds a lot more like the UAE than india. The ISP here seems to think that everyone is a muslim and would like to abide by the Quoran. They block sites that have links to dating sites. *TCH-Dick shuts up as he doesn't want to start about Etisalat ! Quote
krieser Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Cool toy Big Gorilla!! I was having similar slow access problems from Japan, but figured it was because I was in Japan. I used Keynote (above) and it confirmed my suspicions - 4 seconds from Japan, .5 seconds from Los Angeles. I would have to say it's lightning fast in the states, but a little slow from where I am. Nice to know Quote
