cajunman4life Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 For those of us who live in the USA, what are your plans for Memorial Day? My girlfriend and I are going camping, something I haven't done in about 3-5 years. We went out and bought a brand new tent tonight, it's pretty neat it's got an attached enclosed "patio". Anyways, again, what are your plans? Quote
bellringr Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 We have two cookouts this weekend so we'll be eating lots of burgers and brats. Quote
Guest Serpentine Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Bell, you can have my brats too. I am spending the weekend with my father. I am doing house repairs for him. Quote

cajunman4life Posted May 24, 2005 Author Posted May 24, 2005 Sounds like everyone is going to have some form of fun! Quote
TCH-Tim Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 A few friends and I are doing a Ronald McDonald House fun run and then we're going to deep fry a turkey. Cookouts are great, but fryouts are even better. Quote

stevevan Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I will be refereeing in a soccer tournament...total of about 10-11 games and $200+ cash. Quote
boxturt Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 (edited) Rick - Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming nuptuals. Yes, this weekend is Memorial Day weekend in the States. The last Monday in May we honor the fallen. Every year (almost) with our arts commission I help present and participate in a patriotic concert/show to honor and show respect for the war dead by recognizing our living veterans of all service branches. Our community band will perform throughout, set the stage and be the 'background'. Numerous musical acts as well as historic readings and reenactments will be presented in our high schools auditorium (960 all new seats thanks to arts comm!) About halfway into the program I will join another arts comm member (who in fact is taking over my post as vice-chair; sort of the unofficial handoff here I guess) in a pair of guitar / viola duets :"Ashoken Farewell" and "Aura Lee". Then I get to sing again in the choir in a joint effort with the community band. This show has always proved memorable and very emotional. Saturday and Sunday are regular work days for me. Monday we shall go to the parade, watch the floats and listen to speeches. Then maybe later we'll grill up a few burgers or something. Edited May 24, 2005 by boxturt Quote
