TCH-Thomas Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 I viewed that page but dont understand it. Quote
Samrc Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Thomas, You pick your background, your body parts (nose, eyes, hair) then click create and you get a specialized image of your own design. You can have it silly or serious depending on the choices you make. It's a lot of fun to build your own image from pieces! Then you save it and you can load it into a forum. I made a couple avitars.....my first one is loaded now. -Samantha Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 whew...just spent WAY to much time playing with that! Quote
Samrc Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I took one of the avatars into my photo program and moved the hand over, changed the cat eyes, made purple earrings and corrected my eye color and hair color to be salt/pepper with my skunk patch in front. Neat site, fun to play with it. -Samantha Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 It looks very good! I hesitate to put up one of mine... it's way too cute, barely resembles me. I can't seem to give it the sallow "sits in front of a computer 18 hours a day" grey look. Quote
Samrc Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I made a couple others with really tired or surprised expressions.... Will have to adjust the hair, etc to suit, but I really like them! Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 How fun!!! This is a little closer to today's reality.... what do you all think? The old one definitely expressed my personality more... but I don't look llike that anymore. Went blond about ten years ago and cut it all off last year. So which one? Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Ok, for a limited time, I have mine up My bangs look different and my hair is more auburn than that. AND there is no way in heck I am voluntarily adding wrinkles. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I like your new one too! although the old one probably didn't confuse people as much as mine did... I'm sure no one thought you looked like a goldfish! Yeah, I pretty much went right past the wrinkles section... just a couple of smile lines to brighten things up! I made a couple of others too... really fun. Thanks for the link, Samantha! VI Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 You ladies are too much! Cute avatars. Thumbs Up Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I didn't post the link.. just the first one brave enough to post an image. I agree the wrinkles are not necessary.... I did add a bit of makeup though. I LOVE THE MORNING SHOT!!!! ROFL woooot That's great. I gotta make one of those for myself!!! My gray patch in front does go in strange directions when I get up.... -Samantha Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 And here I am in the morning! ROFLMAO!!! Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 ok.... my edited morning shot... just no good without my dr pepper/cherry coke.... I like your hair better!!! Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 That's great, Samantha. You look about how I feel in the mornings... I wouldn't even think of putting up a picture (or even a cartoon) of what I look like in the mornings! But here's one of me in the evening: Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 HA HA HA Love the morning shot Samantha! Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Randy...I am not sure what you have been doing in that photo.. evening...rose.. HMMMMM Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Oh MY! You go girl!!! Tango anyone??? -Samantha Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 OHHH... we need a new contest... we create new avatars for family members based on what we think they look like. That could be fun (and scary) LOL Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Some of the settings would be a hoot to use in that case!! -Samantha Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Very fun. AND ver scary. Too bad we now know what all the staff and mods look like. I had visions of some of them that would have made for interesting avatars. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Randy...I am not sure what you have been doing in that photo.. evening...rose.. HMMMMM Don't ask! Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Did you see the other things on the site? Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Isn't the first step to beating an addition is to admit you have one?? I have one! Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Did you see the other things on the site? Yeah.... I like Mr. Refreshing in the tavern icons! Well as far as addictions go, this one seems pretty harmless. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I'm having a tough time seeing 'myself' this way. I was kind of identified with the old avatar. This will take some getting used to. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Very fun. AND ver scary. Too bad we now know what all the staff and mods look like. I had visions of some of them that would have made for interesting avatars. Not sure I want to know. Great images though. Quote
woesap Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Well, I couldn't resist trying one also.... I think I need to make it a bit more cheerful and the hair looks grey rather than snowy white.... But still.... It's not too bad:) Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Well, I couldn't resist trying one also....I think I need to make it a bit more cheerful and the hair looks grey rather than snowy white.... But still.... It's not too bad:) Very Dutch. And very much! I like it. I see you didn't go for the wrinkles either... Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Randy, Hair real short like that in TCH-Mikes, salt and pepper color and no wrinkles yet. Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 There is no salt/pepper, I had to modify my image manually to get the look. I hadn't taken the time to see the rest of the site but now my appetite is whetted! Ammended post: This is the closest shot of me at the office. The glasses end up looking like wrinkles...need to adjust them tonight when I get home... -Samantha Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Guess Who: Hee hee... good job!! DARN IT... Rob's pic didn't include with the quote... Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Hope everyone is well this morning... Here's my morning portrait.. too bad there weren't pajamas in the program, cause I am still in mine. And that's my cat asleep on top of my monitor, her favorite place. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 It didn't include because it was an attached image. When I uoted you, your morning shot included because somehow you inserted it into the original post rather than attaching it. How did you do that? I tried copying my avatar to the clipboard and pasting it into the post, but the paste function wouldn't work when I right clicked or even from the edit menu??? Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Ahh...that is because on my morning shot I uploaded it to my website and linked it and didn't attach it to the post. I may go back and change that. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 (edited) I tried it. What do you think? I know it has more hair than I actually have. Edited August 26, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Randy, Hair real short like that in TCH-Mikes, salt and pepper color and no wrinkles yet. Forget it, Rob! All you guys who mentioned that I've been married longer than most of you have been alive (and you all know who you are!) in my anniversary thread are getting MAJOR wrinkles!! Ahhhhhhh, revenge. How sweet it is! (That's an old line from Jackie Gleason, probably before you were born too!) Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I tried it. What do you think? I know it has more hair than I actually have. It needs a smile. And some wrinkles!!!! Just kidding... I love it! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 It needs a smile. And some wrinkles!!!! Just kidding... I love it! Yes, I am getting some wrinkles. It's a pitb getting old, but still better than the alternative! Quote
Bunni Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I gave it a shot. Hubby says it looks like me. But I refuse to admit to any wrinkles! Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I gave it a shot. Hubby says it looks like me. But I refuse to admit to any wrinkles! Well let's see it! Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 VI: See Bunnis avatar Well done all "new avatar" makers Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Bunni's avatar was not up when I posted that... andyway, nice job, Bunni! Quote
Bunni Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 In my best Elvis voice: Thank you, thank you, thank you very much, thank you. You've all done very well! hehe! I edited mine and that's as close to wrinkles as I'm going! Quote
curtis Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Well, everyone is having such a good time with this I thought I would give it a try. You know, its pretty darn close. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Now I know how those police sketch artists do it. Amazing what you can do with a few different choices of body parts. Good job, Curtis! Quote
Samrc Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 TCH Rob's shot turned out great with the edited smile. But TCH Bruce's still need's a tad of "seasoning". Bunni and Curtis glad to see you both jump in. Hey Thomas... When are you going to make one up too?? We want to see one of you. I think I will have to go back and choose the sillies, maybe build an alien or a giant pink bunny or other creature using the strange settings.... or at least see what I would look like with a PURPLE mohawk! -Samantha Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 But TCH Bruce's still need's a tad of "seasoning". Sam, I don't have an ounce of artistic talent. Feel free to make one of me if you wish. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 or at least see what I would look like with a PURPLE mohawk! -Samantha I tried the mohawk thing... it wasn't pretty! It was going to be part of my morning look since when I sleep both sides and the back of my head get flat and the top stands straight up. Sounds attractive, huh? That's why I didn't post the morning shot. That's also why I'm growing my hair long again. LOL Quote
Samrc Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Sam, I don't have an ounce of artistic talent. Feel free to make one of me if you wish. No.....don't get me wrong.....I liked your image! It just is unlined, unmarked, too perfect. These little images are like real people. I found that when you add slight lines or wrinkles, the face ends up having a bit more character....seasoning. Some of the settings are so slight that they just add texture to the image. -Samantha Quote
Samrc Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 TCH Bruce, Looking at your image avitar, I came up with this one.... Don't know that you will approve of it... Started with the avitar creator, then had fun playing with photo program. (I made my background similar to your image so the cartoon is closer to your posted avitar). Here's a comparison shot.... your cartoon, your avitar, my cartoon.... -Samantha Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Thats great, I like my version too. My better looking days, I think the avitar looks better than the real me. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 I like my version too. My better looking days, I think the avitar looks better than the real me. No way! Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 No way! I look much like the Scotsman in Austin Powers Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 TCH Bruce, Looking at your image avitar, I came up with this one....Don't know that you will approve of it... Bunni Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Wow, Samantha! Nice work on Bruce's avatar! Quote
Bunni Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Paint Shop Pro and I made this. Looks reasonable. Quote
GroovyFish Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Wow Bunni! GREAT job! Maybe we should have a contest making Head Guru an avatar, I envision something with a crown You know, the King of Hosting! Quote
Bunni Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Thanks! I'm in if there's a contest! Ohhh, could be great fun, but we'd have to make sure HG has a good sense of humour! Quote
Samrc Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Bunni, you did a great job! I used Paint Shop Pro on mine too. Bruce, you can grab the image here: -Samantha Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Thanks Sam, you can ignore the PM. I downloaded it here. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Here's my HG attempt using only the choices on the site... no paint shop, photoshop, or anything else. Quote
bellringr Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 He needs to be holding a Mt. Dew in his hand. I'm finding it hard to do men's faces with this program. I tried to make one for hubby last night but failed bigtime. The one of Bruce is really good though! Quote
Samrc Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 I agree the program is harder for men's faces!!! The avitar that I made of Bruce was made in the avitar generator, then I tweaked it in PSP. I used the same hair choice as you did for HG.... debated between two and neither were correct.... Following the same rules, using only settings in the program, no other outside influence, here's the shot I came up with for HG. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 I like yours better.... didn't realize you could change the colors of the clothing... so that's what 'ware color" means. I think some combination of the two would do it... I raised the hairstyle by 2 dots for the higher forehead... you got the better eyes and brows... nose is debatable, hard to tell fro his pic. We're almost there... wonder what Bill thinks. Other than that we've all got too much time on our hands! LOL HeyBellringr.... from what you've told me about yourself, yours is perfect!!! Paris and food. I'm right there with you! VI Quote
Samrc Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 I used a different face template, and moved it and all features up a few points to create a neck (otherwise that face line sits on sholders). I ended up with your hair...had chosen a different one but kept debating, yours won out in the end. Within the limits of the program, I think we came out with decent images! I am packing for vacation so won't be able to do any more images for a while, but I'll check in to see what else others end up with. -Samantha Quote
Bunni Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Gee VI and Sam, you girls are good! Nice work on those HG avatars! It took me a while to realize what 'ware color' meant too. Quote
