I could not upload on my PHPBB board till i changed my FTP for it. Have you done this for yours? Jim

Can you please state what you are trying to do? Is that you want to set defaults for the buttons? or that you want to make sure that they are always selected and the user can not change them? Jim

Since it does not even work with the ones that are already in there by standard, does it mean that it is broken???? Do i need to make a ticket so you guys can fiddle with it? Cheers Jim

Hi, Ok, i don't get this "hot link" protection. I have tried it, and it fails to work. Well it works, but the URLS its supposed to allow access too, don't work. How is it supposed to work, and whats the exact bits I am supposed to type in. E.g. I have my main domain, www.bugmansbrewery.com and my forum.bugmansbrewrey.com (sub domain) If i put hotlinking on with Http://forum.bugmansbrewery.com in it, it stops the images from appearing. I have tried various ways of doing this, but none works. Whats the trick to getting this to work? Cheers Jim

I have to admit though, 123 take forever to let go of a subdomain. 2 weeks after I transferred mine here, they still claimed to be hosting it, until they looked it up on WhoIs SH are so much better Jim

Must have a huge amount of MP3 or video files. Some of the most extensive web sites I've worked on come nothing close to that, even when I corrupted databases being too big because of the corruption. What is this website? Jim

May I suggest that if you want to "play" with apache, you find yourself a Pentium 166 with win 98/NT and use this as your testing server. Apache can be downloaded for free. You could pick one up for a few quid/dollars and then you can play with it to your hearts content. Its something we do at work alot so that we don't end up trashing the main big servers. Jim

Eek! Working in an education establishment means that I can use my Dreamweaver at work, which only cost us £40. At home, i have to use my old 3rd edition one, but it still does the buisness! James

Hi, Well i have found a minor work around, its not the ideal solution and i may not always be able to do my solution, but i thought i would bring it up so the teccies can work out why and how to fix it for future people and problems James Edit - fixed. Always put http://www.domainname.com never www.domainname.com

Do u mean working ones? If so, http://test.bugmansbrewery.com/ Its set up to go to test.bugmansbrewrey.com/link.php But it does not :-( James

Hi, Although it requires a bit of learning, Dreamweaver is your best bet. Its nearly an industrial standard, and once learnt, its a very powerful tool. I started off with Claris Home page 1.0 before using dreamweaver. But once I had learnt it, wow! James

Yer but now its not working, see edited post above! James

Doh! Thought I had solved this but now its not working! If i redirect using /links.php in the redirect bar then the redirect works to that page, but as soon as i try to click on a link to another file in the directory, it fails to work and it just sits there doing nothing! Why ? Jim

Hi, Have a minor problem. I have the current subdomain: Http://links.**** Now normally this would be ok, but this folder has no index.htm, but instead its main file which is needs to see is links.php However, if i setup redirect to be: http://links.****/links.php It does not work and all i get is the directory listing. Anyone know why or how to get around this? I can't rename the links.php because its needed to be called that. Cheers Jim

Hi, Yes your simpledomain hosting people now have it pointing at your nameservers. ISP? Connecting through the JANUS network for universitys mean that theoreciatally I could commondere the entire 1 gigabit switch in the server room but that might annoy the students I'll guess I'll just have to wait a few days Jim

Hi, I now host not only my website with you (*****) (http://66.246.35.30/~bugman/) but also my domain name too (simpledomain) (www.bugmansbrewery.com) Now when I goto www.bugmansbrewery.com it then places http://66.246.35.30/~bugman/ in the URL line. A) Why? B ) I want it to say www.bugmansbrewery.com C) How can i say if i goto a page within the site, can it be www.bugmansbrewery.com/news/page.html C) If I use subdomains on *****, how can I make sure it stays at forum.bugmansbrewery.com and not go to some strange URL? E.g. I don't mind the http://forums.*****/index.p...st&CODE=00&f=22 but I don't want http://server5.*****/~bugma...de=newtopic&f=6 D) I want my forum to be at either www.bugmansbrewery.com/forum/ or forum.bugmansbrewery.com not http://server5.*****/~bugman/forum/ How is this possible please? Thank you for all the hassle! Cheers Jim

Hi, Ok, emailed myself from the account, which worked fine :-) However, when I tried to email my self back it failed. (aka emailed work address from account, works fine, email from work to account and fails and sends it to my work account!) Try yourslef. Try emailing bugman@bugmansbrewery.com and see what happens! Cheers Jim

Hi, My email is being directed to my own address and not the address specified in the account? Why?????? Thanks Jim

Hi, Do i need to register a subdomain (aka pay fees for it with a domain provider?) I know I can create them but then what? Cheers James
-
Hi, I have set up my PHPBB, and when i try to login using my cpanel name and password, it says that the password is wrong. I can not email it to myself because there is no email address in the admin's profile! I have tried deleting the forum 3 times and redoing it but I get the same problem! Someone please help! Thank you James
-
Hi, Thanks you've answered my question. Anything about the sub-domain one?. Apologies Rayners, I realised what you where after I had sent the post. Cheers
-
Hi, The answer to part B can only be provided by the hoster, not by the PHPBB people. I will have to wait for a guru to come around! Cheers
