FYI...passwords are like that for the same reason. It's a lot easier to hack a password like "mypassword" than something like "F830sj1!3$kdxuWL".

Think of it as your "snail mail" box being crammed with letters. The postman wouldn't be able to deliver any more mail until you cleaned out all of the bills, magazines, junk mail, etc. Same principle.

Thanks for the reminder Bruce...I was gonna put that in, but forgot. Claudym (and anyone else): There are several methods that you can use to encrypt your email address. A good site I use (and it doesn't require any programming skills) can be found here.

That would be the first thing to do. Once you have your new domain name, contact the help desk to get things set up for you. (I'm assuming you want to keep the exsisting content, but just change the domain name.)

If I'm understanding what you want to do, by creating a "mailto:" link, whenever the user clicks on that link, it will open up a compose email window based upon the settings of the USER...not the web designer. If you wanted a specific format, look, etc., you could use some type of email form code. Don't panic...it's not that hard. There are many places on the web you can look. Check out the forums...we just had a thread going about this, but I don't remember where.

I believe the cache Andy's talking about is your browser. Where it's at depends upon what browser you use. If you use IE, then it's under "Tools" and "Internet Options". If you use Firefox, then it's under "Tools", "Options", "Privacy". Hope this helps and welcome to the forums!

What directory did you "publish" your files in? They need to be in the /public_html directory and you need to have an index file.

I'm sorry this has happend to you. But, unfortunately, such is life on the internet. While nobody can have 100% complete effective immunity from hackers, there are several things that you can do to prevent it from happening. Allow me to take things one at a time. "TCH did not send me an email and the email they had on the account was my fiancee's and the wrong email at that. How can you trust them to protect your site if your not even emailed about it. I remember a while back they told me that the only way things can be changed is having the credit card that activated the account." This is not TCH's fault. You set up your own contact email from your CPanel. TCH would have no way of knowing what the address is, let alone if it was accurate. "Robert M told me my site has to be completely deleted and to me that totally sucks i spent months on it. If not years. I only moved to this service because my fiancee recommended it. I've had my site since 1999 and never had any problems like this. This totally sucks and I can't even get a backup of all the work I've done." Once again, it is each user's responsibility to have current backups and to make them as frequently as the user feels it is needed. (I speak from experience here! I also lost an entire site one time. Lesson learned!) TCH makes backups but only to restore from in case of hard drive failure. "I never had any problems with my previous webhosts: Bravenet, Aplus.Net." Personal opinion...You were lucky. "Hot scripts is where i got my scripts. All scripts should have some sort of testing on it. Like a site where you can test your scripts or something." "They took my cpanel id. So they broke into TCH servers. Which apparently is not secure. So how can they send email with my cpanel id is not disclosed on anything. And my passwords are always alpha numeric. I hope to never have this problem again." To your credit, you had a little more security than some people. However, just because your passwords are alpha numeric, doesn't mean that they are easy to guess. I've seen some that were ridiculously easy to figure out. They should be as arbitrary or random as possible. If you have a hard time remembering passwords (like I do), there are several third party programs out there to help you out. "I feel like crying cause a lot of my loyal friends loved my site. It's the only thing that kept me happy. Closing my site is like death. Especially since I put a long of work on it, Now it's gonna take me forever to upload 800 megs on 56k." I can understand the frustration. Like I said, been there myself. I hope this explanation helps ease the pain a little and that you (and anyone else following this thread) learned a valuable lesson. In cyber space, your password is like gold. Guard it carefully and make things as difficult for potential crackers (proper terminology) to take over your site. I know this may sound kinda simple, but have you checked on Micro$oft's site for any changes they might have done? Maybe for some reason you need to put the whole path in for the file name. What variations have you tried already?
