  1. She's cute! And I'm glad to hear that all of your digits are intact!
  2. Hmm..... especially suspicious as it looks loke the kids in today's logo are jumping double dutch...
  3. It will save as html but everything, including text, gets saved as image files. I just tried a gift certificate template and the code alone came in at a whopping 125kb before images. Very heavy, very messy. boxturt.com/publisher/
  4. Good luck jayson. Slow and easy - don't rush the post-op!
  5. Hi kids, my PC hates me again. Every time I click on My Network Places (win xp SP2, etc) the pc wants to install MS Word 2003 and starts searching for the install disk. Very annoying. I need that route to get to an external HD/print server. (I can use My Computer but then my backup hard drive is innaccessible. Why would it do that? I can't think of anything that I have changed and I did notice that somehow System Restore got shut off quite some time ago. A Norton victim? Like I said - this is more annoying than anything else. Thanks.
  6. Wonderful! Congratulations to you all. Welcome Nathaniel
  7. Welcome Peter!
  8. Costs a couple bucks but well worth it. Try: wimpy player (seriously - that's the name )
  9. You may want to check and see how much space awstats is taking up. On two of my sites the stats always account for nearly 50% of my disk space. If you decide to clean out your older stats I suggest opening a help desk ticket and asking a tech to do it for you.
  10. Well, I used the long version on all 31,000 X3 changes and it works fine. I have gone from about 350 error / warnings per hour to about 20 or so per hour. Most of those are people on fishing expeditions. If I get ambitious I may try a few other methods but for now all is well in the kingdom Thanks again for all your input, I appreciate it very much.
  11. You are absolutely right Paul. Always a great experience and I always learn something.
  12. I know I said errors but it's really warnings. In other words the includes gets processed but with warnings in the logs. Oddly enough when I go to a page to try and "track" the warning in the logs it never appears so I'm not sure I can try the experiment you suggest. I'll try it though I've already made all the changes to the files. I can always redo them. (only took an hour to change all 31,000 pages) I did recently read that the .inc extension should be used for libraries but it isn't reserved. a few minutes later....... Nope, I can't tell from looking at (error) log. The experiment page is h_tp://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/new_songs/z/zabadak.shtml in case someone cares to try it and I can see if it shows up. Thanks All
  13. Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input. I think at this point, and because there are 3 seperate and different includes per page, I will just stick with the longer path that includes the user name. I may, however, move the includes folder closer to the root even though it would still need to contain the user name. Fortunately I have invested in a nice search and replace program for just this occassion. Out of curiosity is >include $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']."whatever.php"; not valid because of the shared hosting environment. I honestly thought it was the right way to do it.
  14. No installer, no application. Just a page template with content hand entered, titled, saved and uploaded. I can do a (local) search and replace fairly quickly with criline search + replace, which is what I'll need to do regardless of what code I end up using.
  15. Thank you. Yeah, I'm lost. I can't figure out how to do this. Once again here is the path: ><?php include('/home/user/public_html/alpha/songs/includes/file1.inc'); ?> There are 3 seperate 'includes' on each page. The tree is basically: /public_html/alpha/songs/a/a_songs.shtml /public_html/alpha/songs/b/b_songs.shtml ...etc.... /public_html/alpha/songs/includes/ ...etc.... /public_html/alpha/songs/y/y_songs.shtml /public_html/alpha/songs/z/z_songs.shtml I really don't want to put the 'user' 3 times per page on 40,000 pages I would be very grateful for any help. Thank you. Hahahahaha - I was wrong - it's only 31,000 pages
  16. Thanks very much. Method 3 is probably the way to go (for flexibility sake) but I don't yet quite understand how to make it work. This is quite a bit for me to digest but I'll give it a try.
  17. Hmm......... two things........... I can't duplicate the error from my home machine using cable OR dial-up connection (to change IPs) I've visited dozens and dozens of pages and the error log shows nothing. That doesn't seem right? Second - is there any way to shorten ><?php include "/home/mysite/public_html/alpha/songs/includes/google_ads.inc"; ?> Seems I can't do much effective testing...
  18. It's 8:15 am here and I haven't had coffee yet......... Thanks for the replies and welcome to the forum telcor. Here is (one of) the lines in question. ><?php include $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']."/alpha/songs/includes/google_ads.inc"; ?> Currently the page h*tp://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/g/gutenabendgutenacht.shtml looks fine, shows the ads and has the errors in log only. If I change it to ><?php include "includes/google_ads.inc"; ?> I get no ads and this error on the page: If I change it to ><?php include "/includes/google_ads.inc"; ?> I get no ads and this on the page: I could say more but it's still too early Thanks OOPS. Told you it was too early. Andy I tried what you suggested on that one particular page and it seems to work. Now I have to chang it 118,000 more times. There's got to be way...........
  19. I am getting thousands of these errors and I don't know why. >[Fri Sep 22 21:21:23 2006] [error] PHP Warning: main() [<a href='function.include'>function.include</a>]: Failed opening '/usr/local/apache/htdocs/alpha/songs/includes/google_ads.inc' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/mysite/public_html/alpha/songs/g/gutenabendgutenacht.shtml on line 141 [Fri Sep 22 21:21:23 2006] [error] PHP Warning: main(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/alpha/songs/includes/google_ads.inc) [<a href='function.main'>function.main</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite/public_html/alpha/songs/g/gutenabendgutenacht.shtml on line 141 The files that are being requested get visibly served. Is it that these files all have an .inc extention. I did try using a different extention and it appears to work but it may be too soon to tell. This has been going on for a little while now ( i forgot about it) but it hasn't always been this way. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ty
  20. I was hoping to backup everything not just key files. At this point it is not critical I get this done right away as I am going away for a week and will not have access to computers* ...or radio or television or electricity or plumbing or, or or......................
  21. Thanks Jim - free is good! I will look into it.
  22. I'm looking at Acronis now and it won't let me clone as I only have one drive so I guess I do a full backup?
  23. Just an update (sorry, I forgot) : I got the Buffalo Linkstation. 250gb storage and print server. Final cost = $149.00 (I found a coupon and free shipping) Easy to set up. Streams music files without any problem even wirelessly up to as as my signal will take me. In fact we had it streaming 4 songs at once to 4 different and seperately located machines. Drawbacks: _ one usb port is in the front which is not only unsightly it's rather in the way. _ it does not restart after power failure nor does it remember what time it is if set for sleep mode. _ print server seems to only allow for one copy at a time. _ technical support is worthless, no email or phone response, two things that are supposed to be included Minor for me, pretty much does what I need and I'm not going to roar too loudly because of the price.
  24. Good Morning and thanks for all your replies. My first thought was Ghost but I have Norton Internet Security and its not part of the package. Pretty sure I have an older version (Ghost) but that might not be such a good idea to try to mix the two. I have an older Maxtor one-touch HD w/software but was never able to get it to work properly. Currently that drive is plugged into a Linkstation LAN storage / server and doesn't want to play nice with the software. The linkstation came with software but it absolutely will not copy system files, etc. I was able to install the backup utility from the restore disk from Dell (after I found it buried in the closet ) but once installed it refused to backup everything without a floppy drive present. Grrr. Probably why the utility wasn't present in the first place. I do have something called Second Copy ( h--p://www.centered.com/ ) which I purchsed a couple years ago and it may do what I want. I'll try running it overnight and find out. Thanks very much and I'm still open for suggestions PS - this is my 1111th post..........lol
  25. I would like to back up the hard drive from my laptop to an external HD. Files, settings, programs, registry, the works. HOW?! Even as I typed that it looks dumb but I'm not sure how to get everything. I have XP home on the machine and for some reason does not seem to have a back-up utililty that I thought came with the OS. (Perhaps this is because it's a Dell?) Any suggestions are always appreciated and feel free to move this post. Thanks.
