  1. This saddens me to no end and my heart goes out to his family. Don was one of the first people to say hello to me here. He did more than just greet me, he made me feel welcome and that I was someone. Despite his ongoing battle he managed to support me though my very similar health struggles, helped me have hope and perhaps even renewed faith. Despite the geographic distant he was always close. I will miss you Don. Be free.
  2. Thanks for the replies I wonder why that * is there........... Hmpf! Today the second part is identical, all coming out of the same place. I'm not sure but I don't recall that being the case yesterday. Yesterday it was showing as errors. I can't find an instance of the error today but I see a whole lot of: 74-xx=xx-175.dsl1.ekgv.ca.(blahblah)frontiernet.net - - [18/Nov/2007:10:03:15 -0500] "GET /index.html/* HTTP/1.1" 301 256 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30)" and 74-xx-xx-175.dsl1.ekgv.ca.(blahblah)frontiernet.net - - [18/Nov/2007:10:02:48 -0500] "GET /index.html.* HTTP/1.1" 301 256 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30)" I'll remove the * but I still don't seem to understand what is happening here. I can't get to yesterdays logs, I don't archive. They are way too large
  3. Hi Andy, I took that right from the error log in cpanel so there is no second part (??) My htaccess is long. No actual redirects to a wildcard that I can tell There is only one line in it that resembles this but I don't think that's it RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.mywebsite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ /index.html.* [R,NC] The plot thickens........
  4. My error logs keep filling up with: [sat Nov 17 22:24:25 2007] [error] [client 12.34.56.789] File does not exist: /home/myedit/public_html/index.html.* Note the asterisk at the end of the line. Wild card? I tried to do a redirect but that doesn't work. What does the error mean and is there anything to be done about it? Also it's coming from multiple IP addresses. thanks Ty

    Hi

    Greetings!
  6. How about a gear-driven, talking penguin pen? I think I'd like to see a city skyline.......
  7. I agree and can't stand the ads myself. I may just add banners I'm not really sure. The site is high traffic and I'd like to take full advantage of it's potential. Thanks.
  8. Greetings, Title pretty much says it all. I am considering expanding/adding some advertising on one of my sites. Silly question perhaps but one can't be too careful. If I serve pop-unders (cringe) it will be the ad network's bandwidth that gets socked right? Also I'm looking for a good network to serve these ads. They need to be entry and/or exit triggered and less than full size if possible. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks ty
  9. Hold a strip of tissue paper to the vent and see which way it goes.. At then you'll know for sure which way the air is moving. Yea, it's possible you have the polarity reversed but I do recommend taking it to a place that specializes in auto electric.
  10. I had the exact same problem a few days ago as well. Open a help desk ticket and they will fix you right up!
  11. You guys are the best! In well under an hour and with good communication both of these issues are resolved. Everything seems back to be working fine once again. Thanks to TCH-Alex et al
  12. Will do, thanks.
  13. Turns out it's not fixed. Seems pretty much trashed, at least functionality wise. I'm getting errors all over the place and nothing's working the way it should. I didn't test it past being able to view it again and just assumed that if I could see it again it was ok. I can only guess that something got changed on those 2 servers. I could start posting errors but I think I'd just be chasing my tail.
  14. the albums/.users files cause everything to work if chmod to 766 or 777 and I suppose it's ok because the .users folder is set to 644 I also have to chmod the file albums/albumdb.dat.lock to 788 or 777 or I get the following: >Warning: fopen(/home/xxxxx/public_html/albums/albumdb.dat.lock) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/gallery/platform/fs_unix.php on line 55 Error: Could not open lock file (/home/xxxxxx/public_html/albums/albumdb.dat.lock)! Still really odd this happened on 2 different servers at approximately the same time. Edit: I just uploaded the .users folder from a backup to a different location and all those files are indeed already set to 766. Problem solved I guess.......
  15. Hi Thomas, the second problem has resolved itself but not so with the first. Thanks for reminding me of looking in the cpanel error logs.
  16. I went in and changed ALL the permissions in albums/.users to 777, except .htaccess, and the same to albums/albumdb.dat.lock Works but was that a good idea? I'm also getting : [a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive] while using cpanel to change permissions.
  17. Hi Folks, long time no see. I'm running 2 instances of Menalto Gallery ( v1, I think) on 2 different sites on 2 different servers. Tonight I receive the following: Error: Your Userfile is not writeable at both locations. That makes no sense ( different servers) Everything appears to have the proper permissions set. Yesterday they were fine. I haven't changed anything. Thoughts? Thanks. Ty
  18. I would think the simplest way would be to include a link to download the pdf from in the auto response?
  19. Hi Carol! Welcom to the forums!

  25. So sorry Thomas. Letting go of our furbabies is always so hard. She's been very fortunate to have you as her "dad". We'll be thinking of you.
