  1. Thanks. At the risk of being a complete pesky numbskull could you please point me in the right direction for that? I really can't find that info on my machine. I can find my router admin panel no problem but I'm thinking that's not what you mean. Blea, I dislike this stuff and I care for it even less when trying to fix it for someone else long distance. Oops! You mean do NOT press the big red button !! Curses, foiled again.
  2. I'm baaaaaaack....... sorry, couldn't resist On behalf of my out-of-country daughter (honest!) I ask the following: She has a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop running XP, sp2 and all updates. Connected to internet via DSL. She is only able to reach a (any) website by using its ip# and no http:// prefix. Once she gets to someplace like Google she can surf fairly normally. Her machine was running just fine before she left here, both directly connected as well as wireless. (She does know she needs to "toggle" between the two services so it isn't as if she's trying to use the dsl via the wireless settings. ) I'm really not sure where to begin, what to ask, etc. I hope the question made sense and I am more than open to suggestions. Thanks so much.
  3. Welcome! Good to see ya
  4. I'm so sorry to hear this. Please know my family's thoughts and wishes are with you and your family.
  5. Australia reports kangaroo, er I mean Squirrel mail is working just fine now. Thanks Kris.
  6. I submitted a help ticket at 8:56. At 9:16 I received a reply stating the problem should now be fixed for me It was an error related to the php upgrade. Now I just neeed to hear from the kid on the other side of the planet (using the account) to let me know if it is working for her.
  7. Sorry to hear it but glad it's not just me.
  8. Thanks Bruce, I'll mention that to her. Thanks click, interesting and it DID start happening the day the php upgrades started. I'm going to try to get some more information from her before opening a ticket.
  9. My daughter, currently in Australia, has an email account provided for through one of my hosting accounts. (She's using SquirrelMail) She can reach the account and sign in just fine but is unable to open any email (regardless of size or content) as it keeps timing out. I have no trouble at all from here in CT USA Are there any tests she can do or suggestions I can make. I'm rather at a loss here. It's not like I can just walk down the hall and help her out. (I miss those days) . Thanks bunches.
  10. Beautiful! Works like a charm - thank you. (and boy do I feel dumb) Sometimes it sure does help to get an extra hand.
  11. Um....well....... I have RedirectMatch permanent ^/subfolder/$ h_tp://newdomain.com What I do not have is redirect 301 /subfolder h_tp://newdomain.com but I shall try it. moments later........... Didn't work either
  12. Rats. Not working right. //:sub.domain.com is not being redirected but //:domain.com/sub IS redirecting. I currently have a "This site has permanently moved to ht_p://new_place.com....." notice at the old location. What meta robot instructions should I have? "NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW" or "INDEX, FOLLOW"? Currently it is index, follow and no meta refresh tag. Thanks.
  13. Happy New Year everybody!!
  14. Well............. Works fine except for the internal links. Doesn't seem right........... Any great ideas or do I get to redo all the links? Blea. ..........magic socks my.............. Later......... May be able to fix it. The internal links are absolute and full to mydomain/subdomain/index.html If I dump the 'index.html" from the url then the redirect works fine.
  15. Thanks very much, it's pretty much what I thought and I shall give it a go. OldTimer - good article, thank you. ........... will now attempt the redirect whilst wearing his new, magic birthday socks ..........
  16. Greetings, I need to redirect an entire subdomain to a completely new domain eg: sub.**** to mynewdomain.com All the pages from sub.domain.com only need to go to the new index page ( I don't think I need a page by page redirect.) 1) Can I do that with one permanent redirect (in cpanel)? 2) Do I need to do it twice? Once for 'www' and once without? I have nice SE placements and I don't want to mess this up so any suggestions as to the best way to go about this would be greatly appreciated. As always - Thanks. ps - I don't know why those **** are up there....... not relevent
  17. Yes it does, thank you Thomas

  20. Click on the 'listen now' link and you'll get the pop-up live365 window. At the very bottom of that there is the option to choose another player. Good find Aaron, thanks. Very enjoyable and will be handy for when my father in law visits every Sunday.
  21. Thank you Don, nice to see you here. Yes, I see how that would work as long as I download my databases and aliases seperately. Thanks.
  22. Ok, turns out the Ad-Block was disabled and Pop-up Blocker was ENABLED thusly the problem and when disabled the code did go away. How very odd indeed.
  23. I just went and did a backup on one of my sites. It has a 450mb allottment and I'm using 233.04mb so when I did the backup cpanel showed me in the negative numbers. At this point it also deleted my contact email address. I've read a few threads on this but couldn't find the answers: Do I have a full backup? Or am I now forced to do an account upgrade? (this is gonna hurt if I have to do it to all my accounts) Thanks.
  24. Thanks. Evidently I missed v2., I hope it doesn't cause me any problems.
  25. Thanks Andy. Annoying. Unfortunately the Norton Ad-block IS disabled but the code is still there. Ill have a better look at things after work today. Thanks again.
