As a longtime user of WP and a recent user of Website Baker, here's my feeling. If you want a blog, use WP. If you want a website with mostly static but easy to change content, use WB. When your posts start numbering in the hundreds or thousands, WP will do a much better job since that's what it's built to do. Unless there's a slick blog plugin for WB that I'm missing. I'll agree that templating in WP is tough at first, but once you get it down you'll be changing it every weekend. I find that it's a good idea to comment closing divs in the code to help with the disjointed includes.

Baidu eats a lot of my bandwidth too. All in the name of bringing freedom of information to China I suppose.

Pretty funny. That's some high-tech anti-spam system they have going there. Could be one of those deals where somebody else hosting his site in the same datacenter as TCH did something shady, so the whole datacenter got blocked. Either way, there's better stuff than b2.

For those of you that can't get 100% off IE, there's a handy little Firefox extension called IE View that allows you to open any page or link in IE from Firefox by using your right-click menu. (Good when you're visiting a non-standards-compliant site, like those that use colored scrolly thingys. Or just about anything on MySpace.) You can also add sites to an "always view in IE" list and they will automatically open in IE when you go.

I find that a large hammer usually helps when working on printer issues. And beer. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

If I was into hacking peoples' sites, I'd probably have a script that goes around automatically looking for leftover or exposed install files, config files, or other admin files that I could mess around with. But I'm not. I suppose you could block any suspect IPs, but like you said they're different so that could be time consuming. Off the bat you should make sure everything you have installed is secure and that they won't find anything useful. I don't have stuff like that showing up in my logs, but then you've been hacked once already so you could just have enemies.

I like to play when I'm on the phone (read: on hold) with various tech support or customer service people. My high score is 30,315 on level 9 - got that while I was on hold trying to cancel my Netzero dial up account.

I'd rather they take their time and do it right than take my server down. Not like it was being offered when we signed up, so this is just a bonus, whenever it happens. Patience grasshopper.

You could host it here on your own webspace, with a local backup copy on your home computer. You can use Wordpress or Moveable Type, both free and very powerful blogging applications. Also easy to backup. Host it here. Choose your domain. We've helped many make the transition from Blogger to their own sites. I'd recommend Wordpress or Moveable Type. Either will run fine here.

I know they had a long week this week with miscellaneous other problems so the Fantastico may not be going as fast as planned. But they still have plenty of time before the self-imposed deadline of the 27th. There are different themes for cPanel. If you want to change yours I imagine you could open a ticket.

Definitely a fake. The physics given the comparitive sizes of the trucks, the distance the green truck is from the edge, the length of the crane on the green truck, the length of the support leg on the green truck, and the depth of the water just don't work out. To get the truck up on it's side would suggest a pivot action, but there's no good pivot point. If the red truck was really too heavy I would expect the crane or the support leg on the green truck to break, but the distance from the green truck to the water along with the depth of the water (the red truck can only fall so far, and can therefore only pull the green truck so far) would prevent the green truck from falling in. And if you've ever seen one of those heavy duty trucks in action you know they can lift semis out of swamps, so a flatbed with a little crane on it shouldn't be a problem. The red truck, by comparison, did not have a support leg, was right on the edge, and the car it was lifting had a long way to fall. So the guy in the red truck had a bad day. The guy in the green truck had a very profitable day, assuming that he did not also own the red truck.

I've got an Athlon 64. Runs like a champ. If you're not looking at dual core or server products, then I'd be inclined to make my choice based on motherboard features than desktop processor features.

Interesting marketing strategy. Buy some adwords, then when people click on the ads, call and threaten them. Out of curiousity, what sort of business is this guy in?
