John - 'public_html' is a directory that resides on the TCH server side. If you open your cPanel and go to File Manager, you'll find it listed there. That's where you'll FTP your files into, it's not a directory you need to create. I don't use Cute FTP so I can't offer much more help than that, but hope this much info helps a bit.

Nice site, Ali. Thanks for posting the info. Can't beat those prices and the selection is great. I only poked around a few galleries but liked what I saw. Thumbs Up

Welcome to Clan TCH, Squirrel - glad to have you join us. Lots of great folks here who share their vast knowledge generously with others. If you have any questions just speak up, someone usually has advice in short order. Do you have a Mysterious Moose friend? -
Yup - you're right Thomas and Bruce, it's an IDE. Guess I'll put a bid in on that one on eBay - opening is only $4.99 and it's still factory sealed. This may all be easier than I could have hoped for. Thanks a million guys - I really appreciate the help.

Thank you, gentlemen, one and all. I do want only to replace the ability to read a CD in case of a crisis between now and March when I expect to replace the entire system. I've actually found a 32X kit, factory sealed, being sold on eBay by a church youth group - online tag sale to raise money for their group, don't you love it? I just have to figure out if my drive is a SCSI or an IDE. Any guesses? The auction drive is an IDE and has all the same speed, access and transfer rate specs as the info from the HP site - but HP doesn't give a clue about IDE or SCSI. I've e-mailed HP support and should get an answer since the question is specific and I am a registered user. You guys are the best!

The CD-ROM drive on my computer has decided to go belly up and I'm still at least 6 months away from being ready to buy a new system. I'm thinking it would be pretty stupid not to replace the drive - if my system decides to crash again I'd be up the proverbial creek because the recovery data is on CD. It's a 5 year old HP Pavillion 6468 and the HP site leaves more than a little to be desired when it comes to specs for replacing the drive. I'm not concerned about pulling it - been there, done that. But, I've never actually had to decide what to purchase. I've always had someone tell me exactly what I needed, who to buy it from and proceeded from there. I really appreciate any guidance anyone can offer about a replacement drive, and a good resource for online purchasing. I'm so spoiled by e-commerce - always my first choice. I like when stuff shows up at my front door.

Jim - FrontPage used to come with a healthy collection of photographic .jpg files - at least 97 did. Those are all royalty free and cover a broad range of subjects. As I recollect, PhotoShop used to have a decent collection of stock images as well. I've used a few, but I'm not a commercial site if that matters. I agree, many budding photographers would be happy with a photo credit. Is there a community college in your area? Most of them have a photography program. I'm redoing my website (slowly but surely) to include a lot more of my images and you'd certainly be welcome to any of mine that'd be useful. I'm thinking I may even scan some of my b&w from my student days just for the fun of it. I love digital imagery, but there's still something magical about spending the day in a darkroom, especially with infrared film.

Hi Irina - I'm a TCH Member and, no, I can't get onto the cPanel demo either at the moment (2:10 AM Eastern.) I'll contact one of the admins - they get ontop of that kind of thing ASAP so give it a try a little later on. As for the 2 domains and one website I'll leave that explaination to someone better informed. I can tell you that if you're looking for high performance, quality service and reliability, then you've come to the right place. From billing to tech support, I've always had great response from the TCH staff. The forums are active and full of folks with a great deal of knowledge they generously share voluntarily. The members here really are something else when it comes to offering a helping hand. You certainly won't find better pricing anywhere else, that's for sure. Hope this helps.

Oh Randy, we have to tawk! PS: Never did find a supplier of hoof & horn meal here in the States. If I want it I have to order it from England! Guess it's going to be banana peels, coffee grounds and eggshells for my roses for awhile!
