the use of .htaccess is quite acceptable here. Li

Sully, Sorry, but part of that was my miss. I should have also told you that Mailman is a software for managing electronic mail discussion and e-newsletter lists. It is built into cPanel and available for you to use. One reason that I did not mention it to you earlier is that I personally have found it sort of cumbersome. Second, because you specifically mentioned interfacing a form to a database so I guess my head was stuck in that mode. As to spamming, TCH makes Mailman available for use by its clients. I seriously doubt that you will have any problem using Mailman for distribution of 1000 newsletters. If you are at all concerned about that number and would like to forewarn/get approval for that bulk of mailing, then by all means drop an email to support and let them respond. To put things into perspective, a site was recently shut down for spamming, but the outpour was greater than 45,000 emails in ONE DAY. Now that is unacceptable. So ask if you are at all questioning the 'safeness' of your newsletter going out via Mailman. By the way, you canread more about Mailman here. Lianna

New Totalchoice Hosting Help & Support Web Site
Lianna replied to Junior's topic in Latest Hosting News
You on a donkey playing basketball. Good avatar, man! Lianna -
That's funny that your rival was black and gold! I've just been playing with it today trying to figure out all this css (style sheet) stuff. If you have a base template that you like well, then I can edit it to the colors you like and put that one up. I'm going to change mine back to Cobalt now. If I can get one pretty close, I'll send you the template files. Anyway. Lianna Oh and about the billing/upgrade. you should get an email in return when it has been done. If you don't have one by sometime tomorrow, let me know.

Andrew, Congratulations! You get to be the first person that officially send to the new TCH Help Website! Try this link and see if it helps you out. TCH Support Web Site > SSL > Examples Click the SSL link on the left border menu and then go see the examples that are shown. Lianna

New Totalchoice Hosting Help & Support Web Site
Lianna replied to Junior's topic in Latest Hosting News
*YAY* I know that a lot of hard work and hours of effort are responsible for this new help website. My personal THANKS to all that contributed in the design and content. I'm sure I'll be referencing that site regularly here on the forums and appreciate that it now exists. Kudos (or as some here say, "Mad Props") Gurus! You ROCK Lianna -
Dabs, A reseller account does not actually consolidate cpanels for you. You would still have a cpanel for each domain hosted. There is a single panel for managing other aspects of those 2-3 domains called Web Host Manager (WHM). But it does not substitute the cpanel or replace it. Lianna

You're welcome. Li

I can, with WHM: List my accounts and view their current space use and quota Create the Skelton directory pages for new accounts Terminate an Account Modify an Account (including its cpanel theme) Upgrade/downgrade an account (having made my own packages) View bandwidth usage and modify/limit that usage Suspend accounts / customize the suspended account page Password modification disable/enable subdomains for an account reset shopping carts modify/customize the cpanel news for my accounts ... among other things. YAY, we rock! Hey, Jack? On another note, your purple and gold phpBB style? I found a black and gold one and am in the process of modifying the style sheet...but take a look at the partial product and tell me if this is getting close? http://stoverdatasystems.com/forum Li ***Edit***I'm having a lot of fun playing with this style sheet. It will probably look different everytime you check it out for a while!

Okie dokie. Waiting on pins and needles..... Li

D., Your math is correct. My math is based on the following formula: Cost of TCH Basic Reseller - Current host expense = $3.99 difference. You make very valid points. The other advantage to a Reseller account vs. 6 individual accounts is the addition of WHM to the reseller. So a reseller account can effectively manage all their domains and have available many more options in one interface with one login ... and host more than six domains at no additional cost. Lots of perks to the reseller plans, that's why they are higher in cost as compared to simple BW/Space comparison. Like comparing apples and oranges. Lianna

Nice insight, Jack. Growing up I always heard, "The answer's always NO until you ask...then you have a 50/50 shot at getting what you want." Nice resume, too! Welcome to your new home. Hope you like it here. Lianna

Skins In Cpanel & Deleting Directory
Lianna replied to bigbear's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
cPanel does have other skins, but they are not changeable at the user level. Sorry. As for deleting, your FTP application should have the ability to "see hidden files" or to filter to see those files. What FTP client are you using? Once you can see those files, you can indeed use it to delete the evasive 'contents' of the folder and then the folder itself. Li -
Oh, I see. So the /gallery directory is actually not supposed to have the images in it, but rather another directory /galleryname, then finally the images. ? Is that right? So the path to any image is actually: Man, that's nested pretty deep! Li
-
Huh? No that doesn't sound quite right. If you'd like to PM me a link and bogus username and pass, I can check it out for you. Lianna

Good points Beth. Poindexter, for your purposes, I agree with Andrew. One real benefit in subdomain use is to reduce a long, complicated, un-rememberable address into a simple address for your visitors. For example: If I wanted people to be able to easily reach: I could create a subdomain called: But it sounds for your purposes that subdomains are not really necessary. Subdirectories ARE, and I agree with your organization with links on the home index page to each of the subdirectories. Smart. Lianna

C'mon Beth. If you haven't guessed that's what I always say when I don't know the answer! I'm "nurturing your sense of development" so that you can come back and teach me! Guess what? I don't use Mailman either. Sorry. I'm no help to you today am I? Lianna
-
Hm. Well it's a matter of appearance if you ask me. But I'm not the expert. With shared, your visitor's address bar will reflect an address that is not 'originating' from the same site. With dedicated, your visitors will always see your domain name in the address bar of their browser. Which company would you feel more comfortable completing a transaction with: https://totalchoicehosting.com/~bill/checkout.php or https://billusa.com/checkout.php Lianna

If you are in cpanel then you are already logged in the first time, so the redirect will only need the login to the protected area. I'm not sure I understand what your goal is though. You DO want the visitor to login twice or would prefer they only have to login once? And, I think this is something I need to see. Can you create a bogus user that you can delete later and post the URL? Lianna

I'm glad you're impressed so far and thanks. While TCH does have an emergency tech support number, there is no direct line for sales. However, if you go to the bottom of that resellers plans page that I gave you the link for earlier, you can click the Operator Chat image. If it says the operator is online, then you will be in a realtime chat with TCH. If it says Offline, then you can click to leave and message. Anyway, we'll do what we can to get your questions answered. Lianna

Sorry, Jack. Apparently you gotta do something else. I just registered on your board and clicked to edit my profile. Tried to select av from gallery and the gallery list is empty. So. Check the phpBB Documentation. Specifically check out section 3.2.2.5 Avatar Settings. Li

Yep, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess those are in the cpanel files (server level). Would you mind to drop a helpdesk ticket on this? Li
