Go team, go team! I'm actually curious as to if there is any way I can further help TCH out...
-
Yeah, every time I post on these forums, I seem to be making another post of praise about our wonderful hosting company here. The sad thing is that I check the TCH Forums more than any other forum...
-
PEAR DB? Haven't ventured out there yet...
-
Google never gives me the complete listing of websites that have linked to me...
-
Welcome!

Hm... Perhaps I should put more thought into my business name (Darqness Enterprises). To be honest, one of the most important things for a business name is that it's easy to remember. Yahoo is really easy to remember, for example. Even Total Choice Hosting can be difficult sometims, unless you're a recurring customer.

I too agree with the thoughts expressed here. I have one website on 26 and a friend of mine has one on 26 to, so I was keeping up with it for awhile (Until my bed called me). Nice job all-around. For TCH to even own-up to a problem that wasn't caused by someone else, in my book, makes them more reliable than a host that "doesn't have problems of its own."

1. Change Webhosting to Web Hosting Done! 2. Description/Keywords Both way too long! Start your description with your number one keyword phrase. Make it only one complete sentence. Do not dilute your keywords with having so many... focus only on the top ones. Done! 3. Change your title (<title>OMGN: Online Multiplayer Gaming Network • Home</title>. How about: <title>Online Multiplayer Gaming Network • OMGN</title> or <title>Online Multiplayer Gaming Network</title> Your title, description and keywords should contain your major keyword phrase(s). They should start with the number one phrase. Before I go further, it is critical that we know what phrase we are going after. What is your best phrase? For sake of conversation let us say that 'online gaming' is the "best" phrase. Therefore: <title>Online Gaming Site: Online Multiplayer Gaming Network</title> <meta name="description" content="Our online gaming site, Online Multiplayer Gaming Network (OMGN), is the online multiplayer gaming resource. " /> <meta name="keywords" content="online gaming, videogames, top games, multiplayer gaming, omgn" /> Now use your keyword phrase in <h1> tags and in the body of your text. Try <b> tags around the phrase sometimes in the body of the text. Mostly covered by #2. However... There is no actual text "Online Multiplayer Gaming Network" on the website. There is, however, an image in the top right with alt="Online Multiplayer Gaming Network", so I can't get the H1 in there... 4. Change all your internal 'home' links to 'online gaming home' (or keyword phrase of your choice). This is easier said than done. I'll see what I can do... 5. I am assuming you want to add ads on the Tower Ad column... real bad idea! Put the Tower Ad on the bottom right (under Button links) and widen your central body section to 'fill' the space. This poses a problem... I sell advertising space on OMGN to cover cost and generate some revenue for other DarqEnt projects... I can't really go through with moving the Tower Ad underneath the items on the right at this time... Perhaps if you have any other layout suggestions that will keep my 3 advertisements in good browser view? Thanks for the help thus far!

Ooh, that is one cool link, thanks a bunch!

Yeah, I'm going to go reply in there here in a bit... I've been offline, pretty much, since Wednesday. I installed a $700 upgrade to my home computer and have been building a fresh install of everything, and it's taking me a long, long time due to some odd bugs and crashes...

off (Sorry, my mind has been in the gutter today because of my fiancee.. heh )

Rock Sign TCH is the bestest. The awesome-est. Can't wait to see all the other junky webhosts start folding and TCH become the biggest player on the block!

Yeah, borfast is right. Cronning is virtually the same as accessing a file in the browser. The difference is the command-line interface. There are subtle differences in how you execute things and have data passed on to something else. In any case, if it works when you run it from your browser, there should be no problem from the cron job.

Yeah, I read about the memory upgrade, hehe. I'm actually on three servers...
-
Well, I suppose word from Jim is good too!
-
It's still alright if we have our own cron job that backs our DB up, isn't it?

Due to the recent surge of "dsdemmin love," I'd like to request for him to give me just about every suggestion possible for my flagship website... If anybody else has any ideas, then awesome, help me out in the promotional aspects of it. Otherwise, could ya give me one last go-through of http://www.omgn.com/, dsdemmin?

I posted this elsewhere but never got an answer... Why do the MySQL MYI errors happen? I know how to fix them, but what causes them?
-
Ooooh... Heh. I don't believe TCH has anything in place for that, save for being able to assign users to different databases. [awaits word from the man himself, BILL KISH!]

A Simple Backup Cron Job...
DarqFlare replied to llama_thumper's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hm. Not sure how to backup the site. I'd be interested in that myself. I actually run a mysqldump command every night on my websites that creates an SQL file in a folder on the site for an extra backup. I know that does nothing if all of the data on the server is lost, but maybe I'll also add in a PHP script that grabs the file and emails it to me, or something...
