  1. I have a 150meg file on my account, but when I perform mysql --user=.. --password=.. --database=.. < file via a cron job, it starts to work like a charm, but after about 3-400K records it stops populating Is there a timeout on the cron jobs? is there a better way to go about this? Last time I had to do this, a TCH personal executed the command for me, but I'd hate to have to ask for that everytime I need to update my DB.
  2. nevermind. It appears if you take the modules and include them in the directory with the perl scripts it can find them just fine.
  3. I'm trying to setup a cron job to run a perl script I need My perl script has the following used modules: use Net::NNTP; use News::Newsrc; use Mail::Internet; I get an error indicating that the module Newsrc.pm is not installed. Is there anything I can do to fix this? The error message is: Can't locate News/Newsrc.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at ng.pl line 12. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ng.pl line 12.
  4. I want to run a chron job that executes a series of perl scripts I have made to plunder newsgroups and add their new posts to my database. Should I expect problems running a cron job of the type "perl ~/ng/ng.pl" which then calls a bunch of other scripts and writes stuff some temp files in ~/ng?
  5. The techs have helped me get the data in the database, so all is well!
  6. I have 1.6 million records to get into mysql. It is in the form of a .sql file which is 112megs. I tried running an 'insert from file' in phpmyadmin and it didn't seem to work, I don't know if it timed out, or what. I uploaded it to my site, wraped the insert statements into the apporpriate php code, and ran it, but php died saying ' Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/everyli/public_html/data/places_data.php on line 5 ' How can I get this data into my database?
  7. I have a 700 meg file to insert into SQL. Rather than uploading it through PHP myadmin, I'd prefer to upload a zip of the file, unzip it and do a LOAD DATA command to mysql, however, when I do: LOAD DATA INFILE "/home/everyli/aa.txt" INTO TABLE cities; I get: LOAD DATA INFILE "/home/everyli/aa.txt" INTO TABLE cities MySQL said: Access denied for user: 'everyli@localhost' (Using password: YES) So what's up with that? Can I not load data from my account into my tables?
  8. I use Core MySQL by Leon Atkinson. I bought it over a year ago, so not sure if it's up to date. But it's very good
  9. I agree, the MySQL tools are preety good. I would still like to have a mysql shell for a lot of things (quicker to type it and press enter, than to have to click, wait, click, wait). Mostly it's the file editing that is killing me. I could really use emacs, or at least some editor with line numbers and multiple file windows.
  10. It's time for me to start modifying the heck out of my website again. The File Managers 'edit' feature is SO combersome! I've put up with it for my small modifications to date, but now it's a real pain! I want to use emacs, or at least something good. Is there anyway to do this? Do I have to get ssh access? I have a feeling that 'frontpage extensions' come into play here, but I don't have frontpage. Also related to SSH, it would be nice to have a quick access to mysql, the phpMySQLadmin will be very cumbersome for me to use. Doing the work and then uploading it is a bit out of the question becuase I'm not in the postition of having a webserver/MySQL/php support on my home machine.
  11. I greped and emacs'd my way through it.... things are mostly working now, thanks!
  12. I just got a TCH site. I have a lot of code written which uses the <% %> style. Why isn't it being recognized as php? Am I going to have to turn it all into the other format (with the < and ? symbols)?
