Who knows how to change the agent sig? Not the newbies. And I look at my Awstats frequently and IE is the leading browser hitting my work site and my site. And I know most of the people getting to either of those sites wouldn't have a clue on how to change it either. So I think it's a safe bet that it is IE visiting. Depends on what kind of site you are building. I use MT for my blog. I wouldn't think about using it for our company site or my other site. I agree Samantha and you have done a great job with your site.

I wasn't offended and I knew what you were trying to say. But here's the jist of it as I see it. Oh, BTW I do code by hand and use HTML-kit (sometimes) and my site is standards compliant. But the fact of the matter is most of the newbie web designers are doing it for their own personal pleasure. They are doing it for themselves and/or family and friends to enjoy. Most are still using IE which can render almost anything the way they intended it. I'll give M$ a Thumbs Up for that. I am currently redoing the web site for the company I work for. Making it XHTML compliant and I understand the frustrations of the new people jumping into web design. When I created the original site I was under time constraints to get it done. Just make it look good for the person wanting it (my boss). He only uses IE so as long as it looked as he wanted in IE he was happy. He didn't care that other people are using different browsers and the pages didn't render as they should in Netscape or Mozilla and Firefox. They will when I post the pages next week. I have yet to find a web design editor that can write standards compliant code, Dreamweaver included. But as long as the pages render as the designer wants I guess all that matters. I want to know what's going on with the code as you do, but not everyone does.

The first thing you need to do is go into cPanel and create a subdomain. You will give it the name of the subdomain and it will create a folder in your "public_html" folder. You should set to publish to "public_html" and not the "www" folder which is a link to the "public_html" folder. Once you have the subdomain created in cpanel and can access it you can publish to "subdomain.******" or "www.youdomain.com/subdomain".

I don't use FTP Navigator so all I can do is offer some generic help. You will need to add a server. The name for the server would be ftp.******. For the user login, you would use your cpanel name, and password would be your cpanel password. Once logged in you should see your folders.

Well, I don't know if SP2 is the problem or not. I'd give another FTP client a try.

Welcome to the forum, Gsloop. I would open a help desk ticket and have one of the techs have a look at it for you. I don't use the rewrite subject but do know others that use it and it does work. The techs could check your configuration for you.

The 404 is caused by there not being a 404 error page, so you can ignore that for now. Your getting an internal file error which leads me to believe that the file was not uploaded in ASCII mode (plain text). I could be wrong though. I don't use cPanel to upload so I don't know if you can specify if it is ASCII or BINARY when uploading. Do you have an FTP client? All FTP clients have the ability to force uploading in ASCII.

Did you upload the files in ASCII mode versus BINARY? That is a common mistake. Also the ar.cgi file should be set to 755 permissions. Merged topics.

Welcome to the forum, cracked! How new is your domain? Has it fully propogated yet? How are you trying to access your site with FTP? Are you using ftp.****** for your address? Are you using yourlogin@****** for the login name? Are you using the correct password? What type of error are you getting?

I upload larger files than that with FTP. What FTP client are you using?

Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP and Unix at work. Windows XP at home.

Not sure which version you are trying to install but you may want to read this. http://seclists.org/lists/bugtraq/2002/Jun/0073.html This is in version 1.5, don't know about version 2.
