I doubt that it was the HTML editor that stuck that in there. It had to do with your copy/paste function in Frontpage. I'd get NVU as Don suggests if you need a wysiwyg editor.

Use File Manager in cPanel, select the file and select Edit File and not the HTML editor. Remove the offending characters and save the file.

You would want the MX (Mail Exchange) record changed. Your A record points to your website. The techs will tell you the nameservers.

Is there a config file for the guestbook? The password and user should be in the config file.

To backup your database go into cPanel and select Backup. On that screen select the database to download. It will save a copy in a folder on your computer that you designate. For the .htaccess file again in cPanel select File Manager. Browse to the folder you installed Wordpress. Select the .htaccess file and right-click and select Save As. Again, copy it to a folder on your computer. I've done numerous upgrades with Wordpress and I've never had a problem. But never say never, it's bound to get you sooner or later. Make the backups just in case. And to backup your entire Wordpress installation (less database) use an FTP program. Log into your domain and copy the entire folder you installed Wordpress into.

Welcome to the forums pumajonny Well that's one way to do it. Another is to create another user and add it to the database. That would allow you access to the admin area I beleive.

I had the exact same problem with my blog until I figured out it was a plugin that was doing queries on my database every time you clicked a link. The plugin was running 4 queries per entry. I removed the plugin and I'm lightning fast again. Not saying this is your problem but it sure sounds similar.

In cPanel there is an icon labeled "Error Log". Also check the default email account for error messages using the Webmail icon in cPanel.

Submitting the domain name will not make your current site inaccessible. You will have to change the DNS servers when you are ready for the switch to happen. You will receive the IP numbers and server names in your welcome email.

Sorry Kathleen, the help desk is the only way to get this resolved. Mods do not have access to the servers or your account.

Have you tried clearing your cache and deleting your cookies?

Wait, maybe I am not understanding what you are looking for. She has a second site on a Windows host and that is what you want to point to using a sub-domain here. The actual content won't be hosted here? The program wouldn't work on TCH anyway since these are Linux servers. If that is the case, couldn't you add mod_rewrite rules that would redirect traffic when sub.herdomain.ext was entered to point to the Windows host? That I believe would be acceptable. If I am totally off here, I apologize. You could open a ticket with the help desk and they can confirm what they can or cannot do.
