.htaccess Changes Are Not Effecting Anything
TCH-Bruce replied to aria505's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Glad you have it working. As Don said it's best to edit the .htaccess file with a pure text editor. If you are uploading one from your computer to the server also make sure to do so in ASCII mode and not Binary. Thank you, we try to help as much as possible. -

Autoresponder And Default Email Address
TCH-Bruce replied to sdanks's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I don't know what order they use but what you are doing is what I do with one exception. I do not let all email to my domain get to me. How do I do this? 1 - as you I give out addresses like xyzmag@myTCHdomain.ext 2 - I create a forward for xyzmag@myTCHdomain.ext to my-real-address@myTCHdomain.ext 3 - when I start getting email from said address from someone other than where I used it I know it has been sold and delete the forward. No more email to that address I use autoresponders once in a while but only for valid email accounts I have created. I have my default address in cPanel set to :fail: -
Thanks Thomas

You can do it that way or: 1. Rename the current folder 2. Create the subdomain (which creates the folder) 3. Delete the newly created folder (not the subdomain just the folder) 4. Rename existing folder back to the subdomain name No need to copy.

Open a ticket with the help desk and ask if they would take a look at your setup.

Backup And Restore Single Directory

You can download the contents of the folder using an FTP program. -
You can animate GIF images but not JPG images. Or you could use Macromedia's Flash.

If your friend is getting his own dedicated server there should not be an issue providing he or any of his email accounts don't get turned in for email abuse causing the IP to be black listed. TCH makes every effort to prevent the servers from being abused and consequently black listed. But it does happen. It only takes one person to receive an email from someone and report it as spam for the server to become black listed. When this happens TCH works very hard to get the server de-listed. Sometimes it can take a couple of days. I have two business accounts on the TCH servers. It's happened once and was cleared up in less than 2 days. If people get a returned message that the server is black listed normally they will try and contact you another way. I wouldn't worry about it being an issue.

Junk Mail Folder In Squirrelmail - Activating It?
TCH-Bruce replied to llama_thumper's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Not that I am aware of with SquirrelMail. Horde offers a lot more options. -
Please open a ticket with the help desk. The mods do not have access to the servers or your account.

Junk Mail Folder In Squirrelmail - Activating It?
TCH-Bruce replied to llama_thumper's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
The Spam folder is only accessible if you use Horde. -
I am a senior programmer for a software company. I live on stress!

You can white-list and black-list in Spam Assassin. I looked at the program you keep recommending. I didn't like the idea that I had to install plugins to get all the protection needed.
-
The link should be: http://yourTCHdomain.ext/webmail The link to change the password is below the Horde and Squirrelmail options. It is a text link.

Way to go Dick!

Bob is correct. There is a plugin for Squirrelmail to do it but it is not available on the shared installation.
