With the PHP method you would create a page to login and store the information in a session varible. Using the cPanel method you would get a popup authentication window before any content is displayed. Either will work, I just think the PHP method looks more professional.

Welcome to the forums Marybeth You can password protect the public_html folder but I would suggest using a PHP method instead.

Are you opening the site on the server and trying to download or are you opening the one on your hard drive and trying to publish that one back to your hard drive? It's been seven years since I gave up on FrontPage. Sorry but I have no other solution other than backing up the laptop and copying it to the desktop.

I assume that you can publish to a different folder on your hard drive if you can't get it to publish over existing files.

Welcome to the forums jason I don't use FrontPage but it sounds like a warning message to me that you are going to overwrite files that already exist on your computer. Maybe one of our FrontPage customers will chime in with something more helpful.

If your firewall was blocking port 110 you would not be able to receive any email. I didn't ask about a firewall because I assumed nobody would block port 110.

Got me there. Without knowing what the databases are for I can't help. You should be able to use phpAdmin to view the contents of the databases. That would indicate to you what they are for. I normally name my databases so that I know what is in them.

April, I've never seen this type of problem before. You could rename the accounts you have in Thunderbird to keep the mail you have and add new accounts to access any new mail.

It's a browser thing. I don't know if you can force the browser to clear the cached information. That's why most bank sites tell you to close the browser to fully log out. Oh, and if you are using a public computer get a flash drive and load portable firefox on it. Use that to access your sites and it will leave no trace on the computer you are using.

When you entered the password after deleting them did you say to save them? If not they would be blank and you should see the password request box when accessing the server requiring you to enter it again. There is a check box to save the password. I don't think you need to reset up your email. Just delete the passwords again and make sure to check the box to save them when asked again.

Each time you log into cPanel you are an authenticated user. Have a forum, blog and log in as administrator, that is an authenticated user. Is it bad? Not if you are the one doing the accessing.

To change a password in Thunderbird you have to first delete the current password (in Thunderbird). Open Thunderbird and select Tools and then Options. Now select the Privacy tab. In the Privacy tab select Passwords. At the bottom of that screen there should be a View Passwords button, select it. When that panel opens select the Show Passwords button. Highlight the one you want to delete and tap the Remove button. Exit the function and close Thunderbird. Next time you check for email it will ask for the new password.
