Sure, in cPanel check your AwStats logs. To be notified would require adding some javascript to the page that would send you an email when the page was loaded.

You have me confused. The header, body and footer php files contain the information on page layout. The CSS file contains the style (how the text on the page is rendered, color, size, etc...) You call the CSS file in your header file. Any changes made to the CSS will be used in you header, body and footer pages.

Can't say that I bother with the WordPress site. With the exception of installation instructions and the occasional searching of their support forum I never go there. The WordPress plugin site wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ and themes site themes.wordpress.net/ are all you actually need to use WordPress. But if you need more there are many sites dedicated to WordPress as a simple Google search will show.

I don't see what effect it will have on Google. Usually when you create a subdomain it is one level off your domain. Creating a subdomain with a dot in it in effect is creating a sub-sub-domain.

mod_evasive is an Apache module to help deal with DOS attacks. Not sure why you would be having problems publising to a server running that module with your XP Publishing Wizard but you can probably get around the problem using FTP instead.

While I'd be interested in what others say about b2 and Nucleus I am a proponent of WordPress and probably wouldn't switch away from it.

If you have modified your theme or added modules it's possible updating through cPanel will break your installation. I am not familiar with using the upgrade features of Fantastico as I install my scripts the old fashioned way, manually. I would suggest making a backup of your entire site in cPanel and download it to your computer before applying the update. If it breaks your install, you can upload the backup and have one of the techs restore it for you.
