  1. What server your domain resolves to depends on what name servers you have set at your registrar. So until you make changes at the registrar, your account will resolve to its current location.
  2. The character encoding would not have caused this issue. To remove the white borders just change >table width="994" border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> to >table width="994" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
  3. 3 servers still available, get them while you can.
  4. Very nice, thanks for sharing
  5. Re:About my contest winnings, Feb 20 2008, 03:38 PM Bill spoke with the attorney as he told you he would. The attorney informed us that we could not swap the prize out, therefore we can only offer the prize listed. Regards, Dick DeVance Re:About my contest winnings, Feb 20 2008, 05:42 PM I appreciate you taking the time out of your schedule to talk to me about this. That stated, I understand that's what he did. However, since Bill initiated it, I don't see the problem. I mean, there also is not any rule in the contest post which states that the winnings cannot be substituted. I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing here, I am just trying to do what's best for both parties. Also, I do not understand why a lawyer had to step in. I have done nothing wrong and, as stated, the offer was made to me, not the other way around. Had I initiated the transfer of product I would concede with apologies. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Honestly, I hate seeming like the ungrateful bad guy here, but I feel like I was led on. It took almost 3 weeks for you guys to get back to me and in that time I was never told (until the 15th) that Bill was 'just waiting to here back from the attorney ', let alone that it would be a problem. I even purchased accessories for it, never thinking everyone would pull a full circle and let lawyers do the talking. I had high hopes of giving this to my nephew for a graduation gift because I cannot afford that kind of expense, normally. Sorry, I just feel a bit led on. Can you understand that? I must state again I am not trying to be an unbearable jerk here. We're all human here. Can't we just figure this out? Thanks, *******
  6. Re:About my contest winnings, Feb 19 2008, 04:39 PM *******, Sorry for the delay, I have been waiting on confirmation of the details about the change of prize. I have now been informed that this exchange was never finalized and the prize stands as originally listed. Please contact us at *******@totalchoicehosting.com to collect. Regards, Dick DeVance Re:About my contest winnings, Feb 20 2008, 02:03 PM Wait...you're actually telling me that: 1. You're going back on your word because a lawyer told you to? 2. You'd rather fork out over $2500 in prizes than the much lower cost of the iPod? I thought I explained myself thoroughly to everyone there. I am in a contract with another host which doesn't run out for another 1 1/2 years. I also purchased the extras needed for said iPod in good faith. Help me understand this because I am confused. Also, please don't confuse my perplexed nature for any admission of ignorance or a denial of prize. I am simply trying to get to the bottom of this, rationally and maturely. Enclosed you will find a chat transcript (dated 2-7-08) between Bill and myself (see bottom of this reply) Signed, ******* 12:00:51 PM tchgurubill: what did you win ? 12:00:59 PM *******: Grand Prize, it says 12:01:04 PM tchgurubill: the server? 12:01:23 PM *******: Yes 12:01:36 PM *******: Although if you have an extra iPod...haha 12:03:56 PM tchgurubill: ha 12:04:13 PM tchgurubill: if you have no use for the server, i could prolly pull that off for you 12:05:08 PM *******: That would be AMAZING! See, the hosting excites me, yes, but I still have 1 1/2 years on a contract with my current host. That and the iPod would be a great gift for my nephew who is graduating this year 12:05:22 PM tchgurubill: kk 12:05:27 PM tchgurubill: just note that in your email 12:05:32 PM tchgurubill: ill see what i can do for you *note: I have other correspondence on file discussing this switch. This was the first and it was offered TO me, not asked for BY me. Thank you.
  7. About my contest winnings, Feb 15 2008, 01:48 AM Hey, Dick. Sorry to bother you, but I was curious to know if any progress was made on my contest winnings. I know you guys are busy running a great business, but it has been a couple of weeks now since the winnings were announced and I haven't heard anything about delivery. Thanks very much, *******
  8. about the contest and our discussion, Feb 12 2008, 08:10 PM Dick, Thanks for taking the time to speak with me on AIM. My address is as follows: As previously stated I would like to get a tracking number when it is sent so I know when to be at home to receive it. This will also help me to know when to buy the extras for the product since it is going to be a gift to my nephew for graduation. I thank you all for the opportunity. Sincerely, *******
  9. Session Start (tchgurudick:*******): Tue Feb 12 19:03:26 2008 [19:03] *******: Evening Dick, this is ******* (a.k.a. *******). I've been trying to contact Bill about my contest winnings, but he has not been returning my AIM messages or emails. I realize he is a busy man, but I was hoping to find out when I would be receiving my prize. Thanks, ******* [19:04] tchgurudick: HI ******* [19:04] *******: Hey [19:04] tchgurudick: Can you just PM me your details [19:04] tchgurudick: I will get with Bill about it [19:04] *******: Sure. What would you like me to send? [19:05] tchgurudick: which prize was it? [19:05] tchgurudick: sorry dont have it on front of me atm [19:05] tchgurudick: *in front [19:05] *******: Originally the grand prize, but Bill and I came to an agreement for an iPod Touch instead [19:05] tchgurudick: cool [19:06] tchgurudick: just need your mailing address and an email address [19:06] *******: sure thing. Send it through the boards, right? [19:06] tchgurudick: please [19:06] *******: Ok, will do. [19:11] *******: Message sent to your board mail. I am online on this AIM most days if you have any questions. Thanks very much. [19:11] tchgurudick: I got it and you're welcome [19:11] tchgurudick: will update asap [19:11] *******: thanks. I am sending another because I forgot to send my email address. [19:12] tchgurudick: no problem Session Close (*******): Tue Feb 12 19:14:24 2008 Session Start (tchgurudick:*******): Sun Mar 16 06:47:04 2008 [06:47] *******: You know, it's a damn shame you guys handled my winnings the way you did. Not only are you losing the 4 sites I was about to transfer to your hosting solution (including the revenue you would gain from each, per month), but I have filed with the Michigan State Attorney's office. I will be making sure that, due to your practices, everyone I come across will be informed about your deceptive deeds. I will also be submitting this story, with all the facts, to Digg.com, technorati, Reddit, and many others. You can shrug your shoulders all you want, but the power of Digg was recently shown when they posted about GoDaddy banning a site for content that wasn't a ToS offense. thousands of GoDaddy customers left them. And then you have the nerve to offer MY PRIZE on your forums as if you 'found' it. I saw Bill's post. Something along the lines of 'Hey guys, we fell over another one' Lucky you!' not telling anyone that it was your grand prize winner's computer. Real nice. I really feel like you guys treated me badly and I wish you had done the right thing. All this because you wouldn't keep your word and then refused me the original prize to boot. [06:54] tchgurudick: I suggest you contact our attorney if you wish to relay something to me concerning this matter. I assure you I will be doing the same. [06:56] *******: Yes, by all means. explain to him how you ripped off someone by selling them a server that was supposed to be a free prize, only after you denied the the prize Bill promised. I look forward to hearing what he has to say about that. Session Close (*******): Sun Mar 16 06:57:36 2008
  10. That all depends on what you are wanting to do. If you purchase a starter plan you will be assigned the same IP as all other shared accounts on the server. There are only two way you can have different IPs for each account, we can place them on 3 different servers or you can purchase SSL certificates for each account. Please elaborate on what you are trying to accomplish.
  11. Some issues like email can take a while to sort out and therefore are easier to handle/track in a ticket. As for the help desk accepting email responses, that's a secondary feature to improve usage and not its intended function. Whether you submit a ticket via email or tchhelp.com you will receive an email with information to log in to the desk. You can then view and respond to your ticket securely without relying on the email functions. Can't receive email at all? Use you ISP email or a free email service until the situation is corrected. With that said, it appears you are using Comcast for you ISP so the first thing to check is what smtp port you are using. Since Comcast blocks the standard port 25 try changing to port 26.
  12. Most likely you have a redirect/rewrite rule somewhere that is causing this problem. Disable your .htaccess file and the problem should go away. Once verified, then you can sort out what in your .htaccess is causing the problem.
  13. Sorry for not updating this thread but this server has been sold. However we do have other servers available, just update your ticket if you are interested and our NOC manager will provide you the details.
  14. I have always loved the colors of the site but want KILL the flash and center the layout with maybe a nice ajax menu. Also would like to have the design integrate smoothly over to sections like modernbill, help desk, and our sister sites tchstatus.com and tchblog.com. This way you always feel like you have just moved to another part of the site. I think we should also kill the side bar on most pages.
  15. What version of Dreamweaver are you using, CS3? If so you can use the Spry widgets for form validation. This will prevent the form from processing until all field requirements are met, eliminating any need to go back.
  16. I've said it before and I will say it again, ...... CAKE, any kind of cake, I need cake! However, your thanks here are more than enough, we are just glad to hear you are happy with our service.
  17. Finally, I have been trying forever to take that crown. The problem is my pool skills are ... well I have none
  18. You will need to submit a support request to our help desk.
  19. SOLD OUT Thanks to all that have ordered. If you missed this deal, just keep an eye out in this forum or on the main page.
  20. Hi Russell, Welcome to TotalChoice Hosting! Yes PDO_MySQL is enabled on our servers. If your programmer wants to see our PHP setup, just use this link: http://leia.tchmachines.com/phpInfo.php
  21. OMG how did I miss the cake?! I bet no one saved me a piece.......... again! Nat, I hope the move back is going well. As always if you need help just let us know.
  22. This bot has been nothing but bad news for the past 2 years and from my recent tests it still does not obey robots.txt. I have discovered this bot nailing 3 different servers over the last 3 days for hours at a time on individual sites. The funny thing is the site on each server was very small(less than 20 pages each), yet this bot crawled it for hours. They have been claiming to be an experimental bot for a great new search engine for some time now, but have mostly caused site owners grief. I also read that at least on of the developers is an ex Google employee. In my opinion, if Twiceler is representative of his work at Google then it is no wonder he is an EX employee. As of now all know Twiceler IPs have been banned across our server farm. This ban will remain in place until I see proof that this bot is legitimate and does something other than bring down our customer sites.
  23. You will need to link to http://***********/index.php , however you may find that your blog does not work correctly. I would dump index.html or install the blog in a sub domain.
  24. I don't see where you should have any issues other than the browser and I only say this as I am not familiar with Safari. In fact, Bill Kish (aka Head Guru) runs nothing but Macs without any issues. Hopefully all our Mac lovers will pop in her and share their experience.
