The TCH monitoring server (the server that monitors all the services and servers and pages us if they go down) is being replaced. Last night the hard drive failed. After spending many hours I was able to restore another drive and get the server back online. However, tonight it is showing more symptons of its impending doom. So I thought we could have some fun. Name the Monitoring Server! This server has been known as Server1, but last night we started to come up with good alternate names. My vote is - Hawk_Eye Can anyone else come up with cool name for the Server that keeps a "eye" on our family?

This is a known issue with cPanel. This is effecting every cPanel host right now. cPanel is aware of the issues and we hope they are working to resolve the issue.

Dig a bit deeper and you will see that the 'block' is listed, but not the IP. It means that nac.net has some unresolved issues within that class C block of IP's. As it states - This does NOT mean that we ever received spam from 66.246.87.127. It just means that the upstream owner of that address block (which seems to be nac.net) is listed here for spam support. That upstream needs to resolve the below issues. "added 2002-10-26; spam support - auto-forwarding spam complaints directly to their spamming customers" "added 2003-04-05; spam support - hosting admanmail.com on 207.99.77.11"

Submit a ticket for the dedicated IP request. Chances are we will 'not' approve your request for dedicated IP. We require a technical reason for giving dedicated IP's out. With the limited technical reasons you list, its not within our guidelines to give you a dedicated IP. Funny thing is, your the only site on Server16 that has ever complained about their IP being blocked. Reason is, the IP is clean. Like I said, we dont host spammers, we dont host sites that would cause IP's to get listed. Im afraid this is a case of your husbands employer controlling his employees and attempting to increase the bottom line. Its a sad fact in todays internet world, but its true. Let me inform you a little bit about proxy filtering. Key word filters! The proxy that your husband filters thru at work is most likley using some sort of filter. Every request it process will filter its content and will ban sites based on a predetermined set of values, usually put in place by the IT Department. I can be very confident in saying that one of these key words could be Photography. When a site is hit with that keyword it can be filtered. I mean the chances that one of the other 200 or so sites on server16 causing a world wide global ban is pretty slim.

Ok here we go. I have checked the IP address of your site and it is not blocked. http://www.samspade.org/t/rbl?a=wollernet.com&r=on As you can see this IP is not blocked. I dont host spammers! I think this problem boils down to this. When I was in the consulting business I was asked this same question by IT Managers all the time. What sites do we block. Normally my answer was none. However, some business owners did not like that answer. The thing to remember is most if not all IT Departments monitor all http traffic. My guess, is they have blocked access to your url intentionally. They may have audited workstations and found traffic to the site and blocked it. I think even if we placed you on a dedicated IP, they would still find it and block access to that IP. It is their right to block access, so I am not sure where we can go on this issue.

It has come to my attention that a certain customer has sent instant messages to the staff members here. These IM's contained pornographic links and other nasty things. I am not sure how it started but here is my take. If you spam with your IM we will treat it the same as if you spammed thru your hosting account. Now you ask "Bill, what does that mean?" If you send a IM to a guru here and that IM contains vulgar, pornographic or any other profane message you will get one warning. If it continues you will be reported to your ISP, your hosting account will be terminated and your posting privys here will be terminated. Thanks Bill

Well my two cents. I have the following installed on my main workstation. Opera IE 6 Mozilla Firebird Firebird was rough going for abit, however the Glendale release is much improved. It still isnt my daily browser. Opera is plenty fast. I havent seen many bugs with the latest versions. I use it very little. IE 6 is garbage. No, it is worse than garbage, It is the stuff that garbage turns into after sitting in the hot sun for a few days., I use it only when I have to. There are many sites I visit daily that require IE. So I am stuck with it. Kinda like a birthmark. Just stuck with it. Mozilla is my daily browser. I use it 95% of the time. Keep up to date with the service releases and follow the web site, the dev team is way fun to watch. I have played with IE addons like Crazybrowser and MYie, they just seem to be to buggy for me. Anyways that my 2 cents. Long live Mozilla!!!

There are several known bugs in the cPanel hotlinking protection. Here are some that I am aware of. when you go to your url, make sure you have / at the end domain.com is not the same as domain.com/ when it comes to hotlink protection ------------------------------------------------- Add the following to an .htaccess file and place it in Document Root for the account in question. Twisted, Is this the same pc that gave you troubles before with graphics not showing up on your home page?

I am setting up all your new accounts now. I am going to spread them out over seperate servers and even split them up between two data centers. This way if one server goes down all your accounts are not on the same server, same goes with the data center, if it goes down not all your accounts go with it. Thanks for the kind words. Bill
