justbishop Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I've had a few of my forum's users saying that they've not been seeing the header's images for the past few days. I've looked through the relative code, and everything seems to be in order...am stumped. Could it be a server problem? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 (edited) I can see them just fine if you are talking about your fangirl site. A server issue usually effects everyone not just a few. I tried to look at your just bishop site and got Microsofts site Edited March 28, 2004 by TCH-Rob Quote
snipe Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 justbishop - can you give a url to the site you're talking about? Quote
silica Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I've had a few of my forum's users saying that they've not been seeing the header's images for the past few days. Could they be using some sort of firewall? I've had trouble with McAfee Personal Firewall stripping away certain headers. I have figured out what algorithm it uses to decide which ones to strip nor how to disable this feature. Quote
justbishop Posted March 28, 2004 Author Posted March 28, 2004 sorry 'bout that! the url is http://www.justbishop.com/fangirl/ Quote
Hockeypuck Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I've had a few of my forum's users saying that they've not been seeing the header's images for the past few days. Could they be using some sort of firewall? I've had trouble with McAfee Personal Firewall stripping away certain headers. I have figured out what algorithm it uses to decide which ones to strip nor how to disable this feature. I had a problem with that too. Norton Internet Security was blocking banner ads and thought my page banner was one. There doesn't seem to be a page at the URL you are talking about... Quote
TCH-Dick Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 check the permissions on the /templates/subSilver/images/ folder, I get permission denied when trying to view the image by itself. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 (edited) Now it has changed, the URL has been redirected or just renamed and I see no header images. Is this site a subdomain of your justbishop site? Or do what Mike said. Edited March 28, 2004 by TCH-Rob Quote
Hockeypuck Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 I'm seeing a couple of pretty scary eyes up top... I think I'm seeing headers just fine. Quote
TCH-Don Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 Try disabling hotlink protection for a while and then re enable it I have to do this sometimes. Quote
MikeJ Posted March 28, 2004 Posted March 28, 2004 check the permissions on the /templates/subSilver/images/ folder, I get permission denied when trying to view the image by itself. If you have hotlink protection enabled, you need to set it to allow direct requests to the image. Some browsers don't send referer information, and thus some users will not see the images. Right now it looks just fine to me, though. Maybe you already fixed it, or disabled hotlinking. Quote
justbishop Posted March 28, 2004 Author Posted March 28, 2004 Thx for all the checks, guys! I actually did move the whole board out of the /fangirl directory, and into the main /public_html directory tonight, because I've bought http://www.fangirlonline.com and had it parked. So now, the parked domain points directly to the forum's main page, and just to be safe, I've got a redirect set to go from justbishop.com/fangirl/ ---> fangirlonline.com. I've got hotlink protection enabled, but the fangirlonline url is on the "allow" list.I'll def. try disabling/enabling it again to see if that helps. I don't understand it, though...the board's been up for a month and a half now, I've always had hotlink protection enabled, and the img problems started happening before the move occured! And the complaints are from users that have never had a problem before. I've posted a msg in my forum's "bug report" thread about firewalls possibly being the problem. I'll post about Norton Internet Security specifically. Thanks again, all  Quote
