I know it must be in here someplace, but I haven't found an answer to this. Nothing in my welcome email or cpanel tells me which server I'm on, so how can you tell?

Posted

No, the cPanel has a welcome to me (Welcome xantee.net!) and shows the IP I am logging in from, but no reference to a server.

However, I do think I ran across my answer. While examing the headers on one of my emails, it does show received from server58.totalchoicehosting.com, so I guess my website is hoted on server58, right?

Xantee,

When you login to your cPanel look at the very top, in the gray box on the top of your page you should see the following:

Just imagine your info in the place of mine:

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Welcome tinywizard.com

Last login from:

Please update your contact information here.

Welcome to Server54

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Server 58 did not have the Welcome Message added. I have set it up now. Servers 60-62 still need the message added as well and I will take care of that later tonight.

There are a few ways you can tell what server you are on. A couple have been mentioned already here but something else you can usually do on a Windows machine is this:

Go to Dos (Start - Run - Command or cmd)

Type: tracert mysite.com

The last line usually shows the server. Mine is:

16 81 ms 80 ms 80 ms server30.totalchoicehosting.com [69.57.134.37]

so I can see I'm on server30.

Hope it helps!
